90 years ago, UAW Local 14 was founded on the simple but powerful belief that when working people stand together—when they insist on respect, fairness, and dignity—together we can move mountains. As a daughter of the UAW was happy to join them this week to honor that legacy of solidarity in NW Ohio.
If you have more questions about how the government shutdown might impact you, we have put together some information and frequently asked questions which you can find at Kaptur.House.Gov/Shutdown. We will continue to update as more information becomes available.
While this Republican-led shutdown continues, our offices in Washington, DC, and NW Ohio remain open and able to assist constituents. Our dedicated team is here to help you navigate federal services, answer questions, and provide support. Even as agencies run short-staffed, we are here to serve you.
Our universities help to educate and advance humankind, and research dollars are not a quid pro quo agreement. No institution should have to sign a partisan political pact to ensure the flow of the vital funding they use to advance the health and wellbeing of Americans and teach the next generation.
The situation in Gaza is dire. People of all walks of life, including my constituent Philip Tottenham have come together to deliver humanitarian aid. After being intercepted by the Israeli government, it's imperative all are safe, treated humanely, and released promptly. Aid must reach Gaza.
We will do what we must to get our farmers the help they need after President Trump's tariffs have shattered their livelihood. But I know NW Ohio soybean growers, and when they have a level playing field, they win. This is all unnecessary, and it's wrong.
Wishing all those observing in our Ohio communities, and around the globe a meaningful Yom Kippur and an easy fast.
The suffering of innocents in Gaza has reached a critical point. It is heartbreaking as even people trying to deliver aid — including a Northwest Ohioan — are being turned away. Families, especially women and children, need every bit of help they can get. Humanity must be allowed to prevail.
Internet insults won’t reopen government. Speaker Johnson needs to do his job, call us back, and work in good faith to find the 'Big Middle.' The only way to reopen government is through bipartisan compromise—otherwise premium increases and hospital closures will put more stress on working families.
Remember to check in on your friends and family. Suicide affects millions of people every year, yet too many struggle in silence. Whether you’re facing challenges, supporting a friend or loved one, or are looking to help, your voice matters. #988Lifeline
Our government will shut down at midnight. Where are Republicans? On vacation—forcing a government shut down. While they sit at home and ignore millions of their constituents in need, House Democrats are here in DC defending our communities and their access to healthcare. We are not the same.
Great meeting with state and local National Guard at the 180th Fighter Wing in Toledo. Thank you for all you continue to do day in, and day out. I will always support the brave men and women that keep our NW Ohio communities safe in the skies above, and support their mission of service.
If the Trump Administration is aware that their policies are hurting NW Ohio farmers — maybe they could do something to fix that? Our farmers, producers, and growers don't have time to waste.
West Block on Parliament Hill.
In Ottawa to lead our US-Canada Bipartisan Interparliamentary Group. Strengthening Congressional-Parliamentary communication will help us address key issues including defense and environmental cooperation, and severe economic impact of Trump Tariffs on agriculture, energy, lumber, autos and tourism.
Argentina undercut US soybean farmers—taking advantage of President Trump's reckless tariffs. Now we're going to bail out Argentina with Billions in taxpayer money before we restore soybean markets for Heartland farmers? You can't even make this up! Is America really first for this administration?
Northwest State Community College in Archbold and our 983rd Army Reserve unit with Four County Career Center hosted a remarkable job fair to help students explore potential career opportunities. So happy to join and help inspire young people in our region to reach for the stars and dream big.
Humanitarian aid must be allowed to reach those in Gaza. I continue to call on the Israeli government to allow safe delivery of aid and I pray for the safety of innocents and those putting their lives on the line in the service of peace.
