ICE is out of control. Incident after incident, I'm both heartbroken and enraged. This time, they caused a tamale vendor to have a heart attack and even arrested a U.S. citizen who was a bystander.  There's a reason a court found their tactics illegal. Get ICE out of LA.
Border Patrol arrested her selling tamales. Then she suffered a heart attack. 'I told them: I can't breathe'
Our federal & local partnership is paying off: for the first time in city history, LA's unhoused population has decreased two years in a row. But the job's not finished. I'll continue to do everything I can to secure federal resources to move more people indoors and bring down housing costs in LA.
Twice in a row for the first time. Los Angeles is turning a corner and seeing continued decreases in street homelessness. We will continue bringing people inside and making sure Angelenos are housed and off the streets.
I’m deeply saddened by the passing of Jewel Thais-Williams, the longtime owner of Jewel’s Catch One. Jewel opened the club in 1973—a difficult time for LGBTQI+ Americans. Her legacy will live on through the welcoming space she created, especially for Black & Latino queer Angelenos.
As a lifelong thrifter, I was proud to join Rep. Malliotakis in launching the Recommerce Caucus ♻️🛍️ Buying secondhand is good for the fashionistas, the economy, AND the environment! Together, we can reduce waste & empower buyers and sellers nationwide.
This is a necessary step to address the overwhelming humanitarian crisis and growing starvation in Gaza—which the Trump Administration has neglected to prioritize. I’ll continue to advocate for surging humanitarian aid, the return of the hostages, and an end to this horrific war. (🧵2/2)
Trump is breaking the IRS, and it’s hurting working families in LA. Our local IRS office is down to 3 taxpayer advocates from 21 originally, causing refund delays when Angelenos and businesses need them most. If you’re having trouble with the IRS, contact my office for help.
Yesterday, Trump fired 1,000+ State Department diplomats who were on the front lines of keeping the U.S. out of war. These arbitrary firings are reckless. Our dedicated public servants deserve better from their country—and America will be a lot less safe without them.
Weed is legal in California. Maybe the people running the country should know that. Sh*t that's not legal? Trump's ICE raids that lack due process. Using AI slop and racist stereotypes to bully a sitting Member of Congress isn't quite illegal—but it sure is childish.
📱11 million reasons to couple up with CA-37🏝️💼 From passport drama to benefits battles, we’ve had your back. In 2025 alone, our casework team has helped return $11 million to our constituents. No bombshells. Just big results. ✨ #CaseworkIsCrackin
Rogue House Republicans are showing their true colors. The hatred shown for people from backgrounds different than their own is racist, un-American, & insults the very constituents they swore an oath to represent. Silence is complicity. Get your house in order, Speaker Johnson.
This is extortion. Trump is threatening tariffs on Brazil—a democratic ally—to tamper with their own judicial process on behalf of his political ally who is being tried for plotting a coup.   Trump is showing his hand: he’s on the side of authoritarians, not democracy.
We are in new territory with Trump’s latest trade letter, threatening a 50% tariff on imports from Brazil starting Aug. 1 —The US runs a rare trade surplus with Brazil, so there’s no deficit to fix —Trump says these duties are explicitly over political concerns, not economic ones
Republicans' Big Ugly Bill will not only kick 17 million Americans off of their health care. It also threatens women's access to prenatal care, cancer screenings, STI testing, & more by defunding Planned Parenthood. Yesterday, a court blocked this devastating provision. Let's keep fighting back.
BREAKING: A federal judge just blocked the "big beautiful bill's" provision to defund Planned Parenthood. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
