My heart goes out to the families still awaiting news in the wake of the devastating floods in Texas. I am praying for the safe recovery of those still missing and stand in solidarity with the courageous first responders working around the clock to bring them home.
This Fourth of July, we celebrate freedom and independence — the very ideals that define our nation’s identity. America was born in defiance of monarchy and tyranny. We must continue to stand for democracy.
Republicans tried to ram this horrible bill through in the dead of night. @HouseDemocrats are dragging it into the light where everyone can see exactly what they’re up to - stealing healthcare and food from Americans to line the pockets of billionaires.
My New York Democratic colleagues and I just finished a press conference on the GOP’s Big, UGLY Bill. This plan would be devastating for working families across the country. It's time for New York House Republicans to stand up and reject this harmful legislation. youtu.be/bJLffwX3mKo
We only needed 1 more GOP Senator to value the health of American families. Sadly, this vote shows that Republicans don't care that Americans won't be able to afford healthcare or put food on the table. They’re protecting their billionaire friends, while stealing from YOU.
Senate Republicans are hard at work ensuring millions of Americans lose access to healthcare. The Senate version of the Big Ugly Bill cuts $1 TRILLION from Medicaid leaving an estimated 11.8M ppl uninsured by 2034. This isn't fiscal responsibility, it’s cruelty. www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...
Today, my colleagues and I visited the Brooklyn IRS office and were appalled by the unsafe, overcrowded working conditions. This is the direct result of the Trump Administration’s chaotic return-to-office mandate, and they should be ashamed.
Three years ago today, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson made history as the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court. A trailblazer in every sense, her impact will echo for generations, especially at a time when our country needs her voice the most.
I’m saddened by the passing of former Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, a steadfast gun safety advocate who improved lives in NY’s 4th District & nationwide. She turned her personal loss into a force for change. My deepest condolences to her loved ones. abc7ny.com/post/former-...
Today’s ruling by the Supreme Court is a blow to healthcare nationwide. @PPFA offers life saving services that Medicaid patients depend on. Allowing states to block Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood will result in unfair & potentially dangerous consequences for real people.
The Trump Administration’s sham indictment against @replamonica.bsky.social is political intimidation. Democrats stand with Rep. McIver because we won’t let Trump and his minions stop Congress from doing its oversight responsibility.
I just left court and pleaded not guilty—because I am not guilty. We will fight this. Trump’s administration won’t intimidate me or stop me from doing my job. To all who stand up to this administration—do not back down. The facts are on our side. I look forward to the next time in court.
On the Dobbs v. Jackson anniversary, we must confront the erosion of women's bodily autonomy. Adriana Smith's story is just one of many that reflect just how draconian, uninformed laws restricting access to abortion care affect us all. #ReproductionRights #DobbsAnniversary abc7ny.com/post/adriana...
It's been 3 years since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, stripping nearly 50 years of constitutional protections for abortion care. Abortion access has been banned or restricted in 22 states. 44% of women and more than ½ of Black women live under abortion bans. (1/2) 🧵
The Supreme Court just greenlit Trump deportations without due process—sending people to unstable third countries like South Sudan where they face danger or even death. Shameful.
