My senior advisory committee helps me focus on what matters most to older Rhode Islanders—protecting Medicare & Social Security, lowering drug costs, and ensuring they can age with dignity. Today’s discussion: threats to vital programs and our work to defend them by any means.
Seniors & disabled Americans made 80M calls to Social Security last year. Now, Trump & Musk have begun shutting down phone services—cutting off a vital lifeline to benefits. I'm joining 60 colleagues calling for an immediate U-turn on this decision & to keep SSA phone lines open.
March Madness is kicking off in Providence. 🏀 Excited to welcome fans, players, and coaches to the AMP for a great weekend of college basketball—and showing off everything RI has to offer! Who’s your pick to make a deep run?
Visited Farm Fresh RI to hear how Trump & Musk’s cuts have frozen programs to help Rhode Island farmers and fisherman get their products to local schools and food pantries. We should not be pulling the rug out from the local food economy to pay for billionaire tax cuts.
Like most Rhode Island babies, my littles Max & Lucy were born at Women and Infants. Today we had a first look at their new, state-of-the-art labor & delivery unit where even more families will grow. I’ll continue working to make sure our state has the best resources.
For too many Rhode Islanders, homeownership feels out of reach and rents keep climbing. That’s not how it should be. Met with Housing Network of RI and my colleagues to tackle these challenges—because everyone deserves a safe, stable, affordable place to call home.
Rhode Island may be small, but our Irish pride is mighty! ☘️ Great time celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Providence with RI’s incredible Irish-American community. Wishing everyone a day full of luck, laughter, and maybe a pint or two!
Every child deserves a fair shot—but Trump’s attacks on key programs put Rhode Island families at risk. Sat down with Rhode Island KIDS COUNT to dig into the data and talk about how we can protect education, healthcare, and opportunity for RI kids who need it most.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Rhode Island! 🇮🇪 With family from County Leitrim on my mom’s side, I know just how strong Irish roots run in the Ocean State. Enjoy the day, celebrate responsibly, and may the luck of the Irish be with you! ☘️
Cops, firefighters, paramedics, 911 operators—they see things most of us never will and carry that weight every day. The HERO Act makes sure we’re looking out for them, tracking public safety suicides and expanding mental health support. I'm proud to back it.
Teachers shape the next generation, and deserve to be well paid and supported. But now, Trump and Musk are making huge cuts to the Dept of Ed, threatening RI schools. I met with the Coventry Teachers Union to make one thing clear: I’ll always fight for them & for public education.
We recently re-introduced the PRO Act—one of the strongest bills to protect workers’ rights in generations. Proud to co-sponsor this bill and stand with the workers who keep RI running. Stronger unions mean better pay, better benefits, and safer workplaces. Let’s get it done.
Trump & Musk are planning to fire 65% of the EPA—Yes, the people who keep our water clean and our air safe to breathe. We’re calling on Administrator Zeldin to do his job and stand up for the agency he was picked to lead.
Sat down with Rhode Islanders from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists to talk about expanding maternity care and protecting Medicaid—because every woman should get the care she needs. Grateful for the work they do and for a great conversation!
