71 years ago today, the U.S. Supreme Court desegregated public education in the landmark Brown v. Board of Education decision.
The 5 consolidated cases decided that day included Davis v. County School Board of Prince Edward County litigated by Oliver Hill and Spotswood Robinson.
🚨 The House GOP’s budget bill threatens to strip health health insurance from hundreds of thousands of Virginians. This isn’t just policy — it’s people’s lives, health, and dignity on the line. We must fight back to protect access to care.
Congratulations to the Virginia State University Class of 2025! 🧡💙
Today is Armed Forces Day, a day to honor our active service members in the Armed Forces.
VA-04 is home to 2 military bases and a flourishing active-duty service member community. I remain committed to improving the quality of life for those who serve and sacrifice for our country.
This is an existential threat to its ability to provide community care. The Trump Administration’s funding cuts hurt all of us.
A community health center that offers life-saving services for those in need across Richmond announced this week that it lost $850,000 in federal funding — nearly a third of its budget — and could potentially lose up to $1.5 million.
This week in Washington was dominated by a grueling 26-hour marathon Energy and Commerce Committee meeting, where Republicans advanced a budget that would close hospitals, blow a hole in state budgets, and kick 13.7 million Americans off their health insurance.
AI is revolutionizing all aspects of our lives but it can cause great harm without any guardrails. Amidst Congressional inaction, states stepped up to regulate AI to protect our privacy and public safety, while House Republicans voted to stop them. I joined @energycommerce.bsky.social to fight back.
Congratulations to the upcoming graduating classes at Greensville High and Brunswick High!

I offered an amendment to the Republican funding bill to ensure that spectrum auction proceeds benefit the public — not line the pockets of government officials or their families — and that the FCC doesn’t abuse its power.
@energycommerce.bsky.social Democrats voted yes. Republicans voted no.
Americans voted for lower costs, not to strip health insurance away from millions and raise costs for everyone else, but House Republicans' budget bill does just just that.
I fought for over 26 hours to keep Republicans from cutting Medicaid to fund tax cuts for the wealthy.
This fight isn’t over.
Congratulations to the Richard Bland College Class of 2025! 💚💙
I proudly held the line with my fellow @energycommerce.bsky.social Democrats for over 26.5 hours to defend our friends, family, neighbors, and constituents caught in the crosshairs of Republicans’ devastating budget cuts — the largest cuts to Medicaid in history.
Watch my full remarks here:
After 26 hours and 27 minutes, Energy and Commerce Republicans advanced their bill that will strip 13.7 million people’s health insurance.
@energycommerce.bsky.social Democrats fought every step of the way. I’m honored to serve as a voice for the millions who would be impacted. I’m not giving up.

Today, every single @energycommerce.bsky.social Democrat voted to protect Medicaid, Planned Parenthood, and the Affordable Care Act.
For 26 hours, our Members fought Republicans' effort to gut reproductive health care. As the GOP forces this bill to the House Floor, our fight continues.
We’re back at it. Over 24 hours and still going strong.
