Trump is slashing gun violence prevention programs across America as schools conduct active shooter drills & communities suffer from preventable deaths.    This #GunViolenceAwarenessMonth, Republicans need to step up and help stop cuts to common sense initiatives that save lives. Enough is enough.🟧
We always knew it was dumb to randomly fire critical government employees. Now we’ve got receipts. These workers protected our food and drug supply at FDA, ensured global stability at USAID, & supported housing in the midst of a cost of living crisis at HUD. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...
Met with Brown School of Public Health’s Dean Ashish K. Jha and Dr. Nikki Romanik to discuss protecting public health research and unlocking biosurveillance for disease detection. To meet America’s future health needs, and prevent the next pandemic, we need to invest in, not cut, public health.
After recent attacks on Jewish Americans and last year’s arson attempt on Shiloh Gospel Temple in Providence, I’m glad @schumer.senate.gov is calling for an additional $500 million to provide vulnerable, nonprofit institutions security resources. jewishinsider.com/2025/06/sena...
Trump’s attacks on NOAA are an assault on the agency American fishermen and over 9,000 Rhode Islanders rely on for their livelihoods. I'm standing up against mass layoffs at NOAA to protect a signature Rhode Island industry and workforce.
With authoritarianism once again on the rise, we must never forget the incredible bravery of these young Americans who were instrumental in defeating fascism in Europe and preserving the liberties of the free world.
Senate Republicans aren’t bashing the budget bill because of its’ immoral cuts. They are upset because it doesn’t CUT ENOUGH. Now, they are even considering further cuts to MEDICARE, after constantly accusing Democrats of scare tactics. www.politico.com/news/2025/06...
As Former NATO Ambassador, Julianne Smith said in the @houseforeign.bsky.social hearing, U.S. leadership is indispensable and we must stay prepared to deter our adversaries.
Putin is escalating attacks on Ukraine. Their sovereignty and freedom are on the line. Republicans cannot stay silent as Trump scolds our NATO allies and parrots Putin’s talking points.
This man is woefully unqualified to respond to climate change and extreme weather emergencies.
Lutnick on cuts to NOAA: "The idea is to automate that, to put it on the cloud, so that the 2,100 meteorologists and the hundreds of hydrologists can forecast the weather from central locations, and back up each other, and be more appropriate."
Trump is laser focused on destroying our climate by: 💨Slashing EPA emissions standards 🌊 Firing critical NOAA employees 🔋Blocking clean energy 📚Cutting research funding
🚨‼️Republicans' budget bill will explode our country's debt by $2.4 TRILLION. 🚨‼️ It's fiscally irresponsible, morally bankrupt, and mortgages our nation's future to gift a tax break to billionaires, raise taxes on the poor, AND take away millions of Americans' health care.
70,000 Rhode Islanders won’t have health care if Republican's budget bill becomes law. 💉Older Rhode Islander's with diabetes, will be forced to ration their insulin. 🤰🏻Moms-to-be won't get prenatal care. 👶 Kids won’t be able to go to the pediatrician. These are the stakes.
Roughly 28% of Rhode Islanders rely on Medicaid and without the health care it affords people will “literally die.” One life lost prematurely to these cuts is one too many. These are the very high stakes.
