Join @repdexteror.bsky.social and me tonight at 7 pm on Instagram for the next episode of @housedemocrats.bsky.social’s WTF Show where we’ll talk about House Republicans’ heartless budget that would slash lifesaving programs like Medicaid.
NEWS: I was just named Chair of the New Democrat Coalition’s Task Force on the Care Economy!
From increasing access to health care to making childcare more affordable to passing paid family and medical leave in Congress, making life better for working families will always be a top priority of mine.
Agriculture is the backbone of Delaware's economy. But this administration has broken its promise, withholding nearly $10 million in funding owed to Delaware farmers.
And with bird flu impacting poultry supply, our farmers need our support.
Because when we fail our farmers, we fail all Americans.
I encourage Delawareans to keep reaching out to my office to share how this budget would be harmful to you and to our state. And I’ll continue to push back against Republican efforts to rip off Delawareans.
Republicans just pushed their budget resolution through — the first step in their effort to gut lifesaving programs like Medicaid that Delaware kids, working families, and retirees rely on.
Update: Republicans are in disarray. After pulling the budget vote because they didn’t have the votes, Republicans have called us back to vote on this harmful budget.
I’m on my way to the House Floor to vote no on the heartless House Republican Budget.
Here’s why.
Proud to stand with House Democrats to denounce Republicans' budget, which would slash Medicaid coverage for the most vulnerable Delawareans - kids, seniors, people with disabilities, working parents, just to name a few.
For the health and wellness of Delawareans, I will be voting no on this budget.
We don’t often think about programs like Medicare and Medicaid - until we need them.
That’s how a Delawarean described it who wrote to me about how they developed a tumor and experienced difficulty in securing reliable coverage to remove it. Medicaid quite literally “saved [their] life.”
Danielle from Dover shared how her son’s health changed overnight after going into the hospital for stomach pains. He is now on blood thinners at just 11 years old.
Thanks to their Medicaid coverage, Danielle will get to watch her little boy grow up.
Kate from New Castle shared with me how her family needs Medicaid to manage their individual conditions including a collagen mutation and food intake disorder.
As Kate put it, “having the continued coverage through Medicaid has meant that we can all keep take our literal lifesaving medication.”
A Lewes resident told me how their private employer doesn't offer insurance & they cannot afford insurance. Medicaid allows for their family to get the necessary medical & therapy appointments they need at a reasonable cost.
“It is very simple, without Medicaid, neither of us would have insurance.”
I recently asked constituents from across our state to share with me what having Medicare access has meant to them and their families.
Here are just some of the stories that Delawareans have shared:
Medicaid is a lifeline to thousands of hardworking Delawareans and their families. In fact, 1 in 4 Delawareans has coverage from Medicaid.
But House Republicans' budget would gut Medicare to the tune of $880 billion dollars and tear health coverage away from Delawareans. 🧵
I will continue to raise my voice and use all the levers at my disposal to protect the critical programs and services that Delawareans depend on. Watch our full town hall conversation here:

Since taking office, I've been meeting and visiting with Delawareans across our state and have heard their concerns about how what's happening here in Washington is impacting families, workers, seniors, organizations, and our communities.
Today, I spoke with thousands of Delawareans during a virtual town hall I hosted alongside Senator Chris Coons, @bluntrochester.senate.gov, and Attorney General Kathy Jennings.
Supporting our service members and veterans is a sacred responsibility for all of us in elected office. I was proud to join the Delaware National Guard for their annual State of the Guard. At home and abroad, our guardsmen and women stand ready at any moment to protect our state of neighbors.
Please join me, Senator Chris Coons and @bluntrochester.senate.gov on Monday at 12:30 pm for a virtual town hall. Please register here: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...
