Unemployment among Black women is now at 7.5% — rising for the third straight month.
I'm in Boston today to sound the alarm and discuss how we can address the impact of this crisis in Massachusetts and beyond.
www.facebook.com/share/v/17jv...
Since taking office, Trump has attacked everything except the cost of living—& our communities are paying the price.
Folks in Massachusetts have paid $709 in higher prices due to his failed policies.
I’m fighting to lower costs & build a just economy where everyone can thrive.
What a tremendous loss for our country, our Commonwealth, and for humanity.
Rest in power, my friend.
Setti Warren was a loving son, brother, husband, & father who I had the privilege of working with for years.
He was always ready with thoughtful counsel, and radiated life & optimism.
He had so much life left to live, milestones to experience, hearts to touch, & lives to change.
While Republicans choose chaos, we choose community:
Using every tool available to feed our neighbors and meet their most basic needs.
Thank you Catholic Charities of Boston, United Way of Massachusetts Bay, and Shirley's Pantry for your partnership in doing just that.
Black and brown folks shouldn't have to whitewash their homes to get a fair shake in the appraisals process.
This National Housing Day, I'm introducing a bill with @warnock.senate.gov to confront this injustice and end systemic bias in home valuations.
UPDATE: Sergio is on his way back to America to be with his family where he belongs.
He should have never been unlawfully kidnapped & deported.
This is why we fight for our neighbors and stand up for their right to due process.
MBS should be held accountable for the murder of American citizen Jamal Khashoggi.
He should NOT be welcomed at the White House or celebrated with a multibillion-dollar arms deal.
My team has met with Khashoggi’s widow and I support her calls for accountability & restitution.
Trump & ICE are doing nothing to keep us safe.
And our immigrant neighbors are being criminalized without due process.
Deeply relieved that many of these families have been reunited with their loved ones — a testament to what's possible when we stand up for our neighbors.
Deeply alarmed by reports out of Tanzania, where a police crackdown on protests has left hundreds dead.
We must have an independent, transparent investigation and accountability.
And the US must always support self-determination & a peaceful democratic process.
Under Trump, masked agents are ripping kids from their parents, pepper spraying moms, & kidnapping teachers from classrooms.
This is horrifying and unacceptable.
Our immigrant families belong here and I'll fight for your rights & dignity.
Republicans are doing everything they can to attack our healthcare and reproductive freedom.
They refuse to lower families' healthcare premiums unless Democrats agree to further restrict abortion access.
We won't let them.
I'm fighting for our workers to get the back pay they deserve, and my Fair Pay for Federal Contractors Act would do just that. Congress should pass our bill immediately.
During the shutdown she and her fellow @unitehere.org members joined me for lunch at my office.
They missed paychecks during Republicans' government shutdown & had to find other ways to keep her bills paid.
Unlike federal workers, our federal contractors — that includes food service workers and janitorial staff who keep Congress running - did not receive back pay after the government shutdown ended.
Ms. Willie has been a federal contractor for 44 years at the Library of Congress.
🚨The unemployment rate for Black women is now 7.5%.
These damning numbers confirm that under Trump, Black women face a crisis of disproportionately high unemployment.
He must end his racist & reckless economic policies that are harming our economy.
And the Fed must act to address this crisis.
Today’s jobs report shows Black women’s unemployment is 7.5%, rising for the 3rd month in a row.
Economic security isn’t about how many jobs exist—it’s about who has access to them. As we pointed out in September, Black women are too often still shut out: www.demos.org/blog/one-num...
To our trans family in the Massachusetts 7th and all across this country: know that this Congresswoman sees you and loves you.
And she will always #ProtectTheDolls, today and every day. 🏳️⚧️
Despite this, I will always stand in solidarity and be a champion for the trans community, because everyone deserves to have their humanity recognized and live safely, freely, and as their full, authentic selves—free from fear, violence, or acts of hate.
Today, we are witnessing a precise, targeted assault on our trans and LGBTQ+ siblings from the White House down to the grassroots level.
This Transgender Day of Remembrance, I'm thinking of our trans neighbors whose lives were stolen by hate & prejudice.
Folks like Rita Hester, a Black trans woman and beloved community member who was killed in the #MA7, and whose murder sparked this important day of recognition.
