“Rümeysa Öztürk is my constituent, an accomplished scholar, and a valued member of our MA community. Like Rümeysa, Mahmoud Kahlil has committed no crime and is being punished by Donald Trump simply for exercising his right to free speech,” says Rep. @pressley.house.gov: www.cnn.com/2025/04/22/u...
Closing the digital literacy gap is critical for the workforce in the #MA7. I'm proud to deliver $1M for Boston's DigLit Initiative to help workers access the digital skills they need to access resources, opportunities, & secure good jobs. hoodline.com/2025/04/bost...
“Rümeysa Öztürk is my constituent, an accomplished scholar, and a valued member of our Massachusetts community. Like Rümeysa, Mahmoud Kahlil has committed no crime and is being punished by Donald Trump simply for exercising his right to free speech,” Pressley said in a statement to CNN.
We thank @pressley.house.gov @markey.senate.gov @repmcgovern.bsky.social for leading by example and visiting our SEIU 509 member Rümeysa Öztürk today in Louisiana.
I traveled to Louisiana with @markey.senate.gov & @repmcgovern.bsky.social to visit the ICE facilities Mahmoud Khalil & my constituent Rümeysa Öztürk are being unlawfully held in harrowing conditions.

This was never about national security. It was always about silencing dissent, restricting due process and sowing fear on campuses & in immigrant communities. While we wait to learn how many visas will be restored, one thing's clear: Rümeysa Öztürk must be immediately released.
The Trump administration is restoring all legal statuses of international students who have had their records terminated in recent weeks, a government attorney says, as ICE crafts a new policy that will “provide a framework for status record termination.”
On Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember and mourn the 6 million Jewish lives stolen. The parents, babies, elders, and loved ones senselessly killed. Our destinies are tied, and we must continue working to end antisemitism and root out hate in all its forms.
The #MA7 is not simply a congressional district—it is a community. And in the face of a dictator, we resist—because the only way to beat a dictator is with defiance. TY to everyone who joined us in Somerville for our town hall with Mayor Katjana Ballantyne.

Molly McGovern lived life authentically and gave others courage to do the same. Molly was a light and force for good. She was deeply loving and kind. She loved her family. Conan & I extend our heartfelt condolences to our friends @repmcgovern.bsky.social, Lisa, & Patrick. Molly will be so missed.

What we saw & heard in Louisiana was harrowing. It was heartbreaking & it is enraging. Our visit was about accountability, transparency, & affirming that no one in America should have their constitutional rights to free speech & due process ripped away. www.tiktok.com/t/ZTj6Heu7L/
To Rümeysa, Mahmoud, and everyone who has been harmed by this lawless White House: we see you and we won't stop fighting for you. To Donald Trump: your abuses of power and attacks on our constitutional rights will NOT go unchecked.
This is what leadership looks like. Thank you to @markey.senate.gov, @pressley.house.gov and @repmcgovern.bsky.social for demanding the release of Rümeysa Öztürk. Her ongoing unlawful detention is a retaliatory attack on her First Amendment rights. www.bostonglobe.com/2025/04/22/n...
We can't stand by while the Trump Administration violates free speech and unlawfully detains people with no due process. I’m in Louisiana to meet directly with my constituent Rümeysa Öztürk & Mahmoud Khalil, to demand accountability, and to call for their immediate release.
This #EarthDay, we must all commit to fighting Trump's unconscionable attacks to gut our country’s most fundamental environmental & public health protections. This is our planet, our power, and we will organize & fight for a safe, livable home for us all.
