🚨ICE ALERT🚨 Federal agents have been spotted in Albany Park, near our neighbors at Lawrence and Pulaski. Stay safe. Protect your neighbors. #ICIRR #ICEWatch #iceraids
I look forward to joining Cook County Commissioner Bridget Degnen at her Defending Our Neighbors Town Hall on Tuesday. Please join us on November 4 at 6:30 pm at Roosevelt High School.

360,000 Illinoisans stand to be impacted by SNAP changes in Trump’s Big, Ugly Law. @Quigley.house.gov and I sent a letter to USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins urging more time for our state to make these changes, so that we can protect as many folks as possible from these disastrous cuts.
@budzinski.house.gov and I are demanding that the administration do everything to prevent people from losing SNAP benefits. We MUST ensure Illinois is not penalized for the administration's poor communication of these cruel cuts.
Trump's Big Ugly Bill is set to rip food assistance away from 360,000 people in Illinois – especially veterans and teenagers aging out of foster care. And the Trump administration has given our state less than 30 days to implement these changes. See more below.
#ICE is terrorizing our kids. They worry about their friends, parents, and teachers, even those with citizenship or legal status, because of how extreme the raids are. The administration is robbing our children of their childhoods.
I’m proud of Illinois for joining over two dozen states in suing the administration for this illegal and illegitimate suspension of vital #food assistance.
Rather than use readily available contingency funds, the Trump administration is choosing to let families go hungry. Come this Saturday, November 1, over 40 million Americans will not be able to receive their #SNAP benefits. (continued below)
Rent & home prices in Chicago are too damn high. To make housing less expensive, we must build more units ASAP. I was proud to speak at the American Institute of Architects Housing Summit about how we can remove barriers to building. Together, we can solve our housing crisis at home & nationwide.
I recently visited the Bright Star Church community shelter. They serve over 200 Chicagoans, but they’ve struggled this month as ICE targets their residents and volunteers.

Trump’s reign of terror has to end so shelters like Bright Star’s can continue to help our community.

In the meantime, I, my staff, and constituents kept each other safe. We walked kids to school, we trained each other on non-violent responses to violent raids, and we signed up to help each other with food and other assistance. #ice #chicago
The so-called party of ‘law and order’ were the perpetrators of dangerous chaos in my district this past week. ICE agents deployed tear gas without warning, nearly ran over an Alderman, and tackled people in the middle of the day who were trying to work to put food on the table for their families.

This week’s arguments in Shilling v. Trump affirmed what we already knew to be true: there’s no basis for Trump’s trans military ban — just cruelty and discrimination. The Ninth Circuit must block the so-called “Hegseth Policy” banning trans people from serving in the military.
I look forward to Ruben's release and reunion with his family — including his 16-year-old daughter, Ofelia, who continues to battle stage 4 cancer while fighting for him.
