Once again, New Dems got out of DC to hear from experts about how to improve policy in Washington.
Today, New Dems @ross.house.gov & @repnikema.bsky.social were in North Carolina to learn more about how The GOP's Big Ugly Bill will impact the clean energy economy—and how we can fight back.
The Trump admin is illegally withholding $8 million from Wake County Public Schools.
I joined @mcbath.house.gov and House Democrats in demanding these funds be released immediately. Our students and teachers deserve better.
The Trump administration is blocking over $8 million in federal education funding from Wake County public schools.
This is shameful. Our schools should not be caught up in Trump's political games. I will always fight to make sure our public schools have the resources they need.
Trump promised 90 trade deals in 90 days. Today, all we're left with is chaos and higher prices.
Trump's tariffs could mean an even rockier time for our economy while Americans are still struggling under high costs.
His reckless tariffs are a bad idea, but that hasn't stopped him before.
Trump's cronies want to privatize the weather forecasting systems that everyone relies on so they can line their own pockets.
Forcing people to pay for accurate weather forecasts is dangerous.
Too many Americans still struggle to get by. We should be creating jobs, lowering costs, and building a more sustainable future. Instead, the President wants to thwart our progress.
Eliminating tax credits for clean energy is bad for our energy sector and our economy.
Trump's reckless attempt to gut the VA put veterans' care and thousands of jobs at risk. I'm relieved that the agency reversed course, but the work is not over.
We must remain committed to providing the care our veterans need. It's the least we can do.
Tropical Storm Chantal caused severe damage throughout Central NC, and I'm thankful for all the first responders working to protect and save our community. My thoughts are with the victims of this disaster.

It is always a joy to celebrate the 4th of July in Cary, especially on the 25th anniversary. I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday weekend!
Shocker. A chaotic President is threatening to upend the American economy with his reckless tariffs.
Once again, his harmful tariffs will only increase prices at a time when Americans are already struggling to get by.
The brave veterans who served our country deserve justice for any toxic exposure they experienced at Camp Lejeune.
I joined my colleagues in pushing to remove hurdles that prevent our veterans from seeking justice.

Raleigh is home to many members of the Tamil community, and this weekend we welcomed many more Tamils focused on recognizing and preserving their history and culture.
Thank you to the Federation of Tamil Sangams for your continued advocacy and for inviting me to your convention.
Republicans are destroying good paying jobs and decimating our energy capabilities to pay for wealthy tax breaks.
This bill will harm North Carolina.

Happy Independence Day!
Today we celebrate the promise of freedom and the courage of those who came before us.
Let's mark this day by recommitting ourselves to the work of building a more perfect and just union for all.
Republicans' terrible Medicaid cuts haven't even become law, and they're already causing hospital closures.
Everyone else can tell these cuts are a disaster. Why can't Republicans?

Under the direction of Donald Trump, House Republicans have done the unimaginable.
They've taken healthcare and nutrition assistance from millions to pay for tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy.
Shame on those who voted to hurt so many in the service of so few.
My full statement:
On the eve of July 4th, House Republicans are celebrating by taking healthcare and food assistance from those who need it most.
It's time to call it what it is: un-American.
I’ve been in the Capitol all night with my colleagues.
We’re standing behind @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social and standing up for the American people.
Just took to the House Floor to speak in support of a country where everyone can afford to live the good life.
And in strong opposition to Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill that is devastating to everyday Americans.
We will not be silenced.

Republicans are voting to take healthcare from hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians to pay for tax breaks for billionaires.
Their bill is a disaster, and I'm fighting it in the House.
