Jan Schakowsky has been a fearless progressive champion in Congress and it has been an honor to serve by her side. As a legislator, she has been a champion for expanding healthcare and reproductive rights, and protecting vital services that are a lifeline for the most vulnerable in our communities.
The next time someone tries to tell you that we don't have money to fund universal healthcare or public education remind them of this and Trump's tax cuts for the rich. It's not a matter of resources, it's a matter of priorities.
BREAKING: The Trump administration says it will pay immigrants living illegally in the United States $1,000 to leave the country.
This week at Homeland Security committee, republicans voted against an amendment that prohibits DHS from using your tax payer dollars to deport US citizens. I have said it over and over, they're persecuting immigrants, residents and even US citizens. Enough is Enough. I will continue to fight back.
On April 24, ICE agents broke into a home of a family of US citizens in Oklahoma. The family repeatedly said we are citizens, you have the wrong people. ICE terrorized the family, ripped apart the house. It's not "other people" that this is happening to. It's us. Open your eyes. Wake the hell up.
This week on Young American With Dylan Douglas: @ramirez.house.gov discusses the mass deportations to El Salvador and Abrego Garcia's case. @jj-mccullough.bsky.social joins to discuss the results of Canada's election and what it means. Airing Saturday at 10am ET and throughout the weekend!
We are watching Trump accuse a person of a crime then peddle lies and even fabricate evidence to support imprisoning him. That is the power Trump and his regime are openly fighting for to use against anyone. That is why we must fight back. My article: deanobeidallah.substack.com/p/trump-fabr...
We must use every legislative and congressional authority to hold this administration accountable for the constant violations of human rights and international law. Enough is Enough!
The U.S. cannot send people to places where torture is a known risk. Transfers to El Salvador’s CECOT prison violate international law, US law, & our commitment to human rights. Today, @ramirez.house.gov & I wrote to Sec. Rubio demanding answers & a halt to these transfers.
Congratulations Anthony Quezada on your appointment as the 35th Ward Alderperson. I am confident that your principled and collaborative leadership will serve and represent 35th Ward residents and our city well.
I want to extend a special congratulations to Bobby Hernandez and Dems for Addison Township, Sheila Ruthledge and Win for Winfield, Buffy Higgins-Beard and the Milton Dems Slate, Elk Grove Township Forward, Ashfaq Syed for Naperville City Council, and John for Aurora.
Many of these candidates overcame the odds and flipped Republican strongholds. Voters across Illinois sent a clear and decisive message: we reject the extremist MAGA agenda and the candidates who support it or enable it with their silence.
Local elections matter. I was proud to support great Democratic candidates across my district and suburban Chicagoland during our consolidated municipal elections. While vote by mail is still being counted, I am delighted to share that 27 of our 28 endorsed candidates are on their way to victory.
I agree that we cannot legislate through social media. I made the official request in Commitee hearing last week and followed up with an official letter. Please follow my official page for details on the work I’m doing daily to hold this administration accountable.
I just left the senate floor and feeling immense gratitude to @corybooker.com for his leadership in disrupting business as usual in the senate. When is enough, enough? When will we understand that protecting our communities is far more important than protecting decorum?
