I’m closely monitoring the situation at DCA that occurred this evening involving a collision between a passenger airplane and a military helicopter. I’m thankful for our first responders on the scene. My thoughts and prayers are with all those involved in this horrible tragedy.
It was a great pleasure to have Dr. Bernice A. King, daughter of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mrs. Coretta Scott King, on the campus of ODU this evening for a Keynote Address during the 39th Annual MLK Observance
I participated in the Groundbreaking today for a fifty-unit community named in honor of the Ms. Eliza Bains, a Portsmouth resident who helped slaves gain freedom via the Underground Railroad. This new community will help alleviate the shortage of affordable housing in Portsmouth
🚨 Trump’s illegal firing of NLRB Member Wilcox hurts workers. Without a quorum, the Board can’t issue decisions to hold union-busting companies accountable, stymying justice for workers fighting for better conditions. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...
President Trump’s funding freeze is illegal, has caused chaos and confusion, and will make it more difficult for people to access essential services they rely on. It puts programs that support healthcare, education, infrastructure, and public safety at risk.
The funding freeze by the White House could affect trillions of dollars and cause widespread disruption in health care research, education programs and other initiatives. Even grants that have been awarded but not spent are supposed to be halted.
I stopped by a feeding program site this afternoon in the Southeast community of Newport News. It’s great to see organizations working hard to ensure that people have access to essential resources
Yesterday, I hosted a reception for the talented students who participated in my Congressional App Challenge. All the entries were incredible, including the first place winning app, which provides information about locally available resources to promote mental health
I was honored to participate in the Ribbon Cutting for the new Community Care Center in the Southeast Community of NN, where Medicare recipients, Medicaid recipients and the uninsured can receive comprehensive medical, behavioral health and social support services under one roof
Had the pleasure of joining Speaker Don Scott, Hampton University Pres. Williams, Virginia State University Pres. Abdullah and guests at a reception this morning for the new exhibit "Out of the Shadows," which honors the Black men who served in Virginia’s General Assembly during Reconstruction
📷 VA Medical Centers across the Commonwealth are suffering because President Trump is forcing them to rescind job offers to essential staff. I led my Virginia Democratic House colleagues in a letter calling on the Trump-Vance Administration to revise or revoke its federal hiring freeze.
Graphic. Background is photo of Richmond VA Medical Center. Text reads “CONGRESSWOMAN MCCLELLAN LEADS VIRGINIA DELEGATION LETTER TO TRUMP ON VETERAN HEALTH ADMINISTRATION HIRING FREEZE.” Logo of Rep. McClellan is present at the bottom center of the page.
I am looking forward to joining Ranking Member @congressmanboyle.bsky.social and my fellow Committee Democrats in our fight to invest in our economy, while we protect education, health care and other critical services for America’s students, workers, seniors, veterans and families.
I am honored to continue my service on the Budget Committee in the 119th Congress. The Budget Committee will be ground zero for the Trump-Vance Administration and the GOPs’ efforts to cut vital services for working families in order to fund their tax cuts for corporations and the billionaire class.
President Trump has weakened critical civil rights enforcement protections, which have served to protect, until now, *about 20 percent* of the American workforce from discrimination in taxpayer funded contracts.   Read my full statement here: democrats-edworkforce.house.gov/media/press-...
Trump issued a sweeping executive order revoking decades of diversity and affirmative action practices in federal government. And it extends out to the private sector.
Far too many Americans are being denied their fundamental freedoms because of the Republicans’ extreme agenda. With millions of people struggling under abortion bans post-Roe v. Wade, I stand with the @reprocaucus.bsky.social in the fight to protect your reproductive rights and freedoms.
