Closing nearly half of the Head Start regional offices, including the office in Chicago, will have devastating impacts. I demand answers from this administration. All kids deserve access to a quality, affordable education.
I have a list of people in my community who have rationed their insulin because they couldn't afford it. Trump and the current FTC don't care about these people. Lowering costs for the American people has taken a backseat to empowering billionaires.
The FTC has stayed its case against pharmaceutical benefit manufacturers accused of inflating the price of insulin because there are no commissioners available to rule on the case after President Trump fired the two Democratic members at the agency (and both GOP members are recused).
Speaker Johnson tried to block a bipartisan resolution to allow new moms and dads to vote remotely while caring for their newborns. He failed. Now he canceled votes for the rest of the week to delay a vote on this resolution. Why is Speaker Johnson so against supporting our families?
BREAKING: House Speaker Mike Johnson has CANCELED votes for the rest of the week after he failed to block a push by new parents in the U.S. House for proxy voting, story on vote by @jennifershutt.bsky.social @statesnewsroom.com DC www.newsfromthestates.com/article/win-...
To the entire trans community, I see you, I hear you, & I value you. 🏳️‍⚧️❤️ Whether you are living as your true self, or you are forced to hide who you are, please know that you are loved. We aren't backing down & will stand strong against continued attacks from Trump & the GOP. #TransDayOfVisibility
Donald Trump doesn't care about our workers. He wants to keep working people down, wages stagnant, and power and wealth concentrated at the very top.   As a proud dues-paying member of Workers United, I know firsthand that unions lead to better wages and benefits.   This is union busting, period.
Trump moves to strip unionization rights from most federal workers.
Trump, Musk, and Kennedy would rather enrich their billionaire friends than prioritize the health of America's seniors and disabled individuals. This is not business as usual, and we cannot treat it as such.
Let me be clear, dismantling the federal department responsible for the health and well-being of our nation and firing thousands of federal employees who work there is far from efficient. It's irresponsible and deadly.
RFK Jr.'s remaking of HHS entered a new phase today when officials announced 10,000 more layoffs and the dismantling of the Administration for Community Living, which oversees vital programs for disabled and aging people.
🚨Medicare Advantage isn't Medicare, it's private insurance. These private insurers sacrifice patient outcomes for corporate profit. Along with @jayapal.house.gov, @delauro.house.gov, & @doggett.house.gov, I’m leading 74 members in calling on the administration to reform Medicare DisAdvantage.
We are the richest country in the world, yet women still haven't achieved full political and economic equality. Every day, millions of women face inequities and discrimination in the workplace. Let's raise the wage, implement paid leave, and fully ratify the ERA. #EqualPayDay
This is why I continue my fight for a comprehensive privacy bill for all Americans. Thankfully, Illinois residents concerned with the privacy of their genetic data can demand 23andMe delete any saved genetic data under state law!
23andMe’s bankruptcy filing means information is set to be sold, causing massive worry among privacy experts and advocates.
We must expand Social Security benefits, not cut them, and I have a bill to do just that. The Social Security Expansion Act will protect the national treasure that is Social Security by extending the trust fund’s solvency for 75 years and expanding benefits by $2,400 a year.
Each and every paycheck you earn, you're paying into Social Security. You make this payment with the promise that when you retire, you'll have income to rely on. The GOP, led by Trump and Musk, have decided that you no longer have the right to your money. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...
