It’s 5 AM here in Washington and we’ve been debating through the dark of night while Congressional Republicans try to pass their big, ugly bill. This bill is bad for our district, bad for our country, and bad for our future. I’m not standing for it.
Congressional Republicans are giving a handout to the gun lobby by eliminating the $200 tax on silencers and easily concealable short-barreled rifles and short-barreled shotguns. We’ve regulated silencers and these guns for 90+ years for a reason: to keep people safe.
#OakdaleFire: Evacuate immediately from the following zones near Esparto: MAD-063. Evacuate east towards I-505. Learn more at nixle.us/GFFP9
Congressional Republicans are using a budgeting gimmick to claim that the cost of extending the President’s 2017 tax bill will be zero dollars. The fact is that this bill will add $5 trillion to our national debt. Every hardworking American, regardless of party stripe, should be outraged.
The President’s efforts to go after our renewable energy sector will kill jobs, give China the upper hand in the race against us for clean energy, and make energy prices higher for Americans. It’s just bad policy. www.axios.com/2025/07/01/t...
On this day 59 years ago, the Medicare program launched. Today, one in six Californians are enrolled in Medicare. Medicare provides critical coverage for our nation’s seniors and disabled Americans, and I will continue to work to protect the program for generations to come.
Senate Republicans passed their big ugly bill that will rip health care from 17 million Americans and add $5 trillion to our national debt. This is a bad deal for the American people and I’m headed to DC now to keep fighting its passage in the House. www.cnbc.com/2025/06/30/t...
Senate Republicans don’t even know who added this tax to their 900+ page bill! www.nbcnews.com/politics/con...
In addition to slashing our green energy tax credits, Senate Republicans are now planning to pass a tax on nearly all new wind and solar projects in our country. This is bad for businesses, bad for job growth, and unpopular even with the Republicans who plan to vote for it.
Happy Canada Day to our good friends and neighbors to the north! California exports $18.4 billion in goods and $15.3 billion in services to Canada each year. Canada remains our state’s #2 export market, and I am proud to support our friendship and trading partnership.
How about we all vote what’s best for our districts and our country, defeat this disaster and get back to work on legislation that helps the American people! (2/2)
The president is threatening to fund primary challengers to run against Republicans that vote against his big ugly bill and Elon Musk is threatening to fund primary challengers to run against Republicans who vote for the big ugly bill. (1/2)
My prayers are with the families and friends of the victims as we wait to learn more. apnews.com/article/coeu...
Horrified and heartbroken by the news that two firefighters were senselessly murdered and another was injured in a calculated attack in Idaho. We owe all first responders across our nation a debt of gratitude for their work keeping us safe.

This is shameful. It’s clear this administration wants to sow fear and chaos in our immigrant communities. They are targeting our family members, friends, and neighbors, not violent criminals like they promised. There’s no excuse for treating someone this way.

As the song goes: “this land is your land, this land is my land.” Our public lands help protect our clean air and water, provide habitat for wildlife, and allow everyone to access our great outdoors. They’re for all of us to enjoy, and they are NOT for sale. youtu.be/WfsLXA5AEm8?...
This administration is handing a free pass to their wealthy donors and guaranteeing billions of dollars lost in unpaid taxes. Americans deserve a government that works for them, not one that caters to the wealthy and the well-connected.
10 years ago today, the Supreme Court recognized the right to same-sex marriage nationwide. While we mark today’s milestone, we remember that the fight for equality is not over. I remain committed to protecting equal rights for all Americans.

Congressional Republicans’ bill to rip health care from 16 million people violates the Senate’s rules. Unfortunately, this isn’t the end. They’re already rewriting their bill to run around the rules and follow through with their bad plan. I’ll continue to fight this. thehill.com/homenews/sen...
