Every American has a constitutional right to peacefully protest and to speak out. Trump’s actions are authoritarian tactics, meant to intimidate and silence anyone who disagrees with him.
We must not politicize our military. They are not props for political theater or tools to silence legitimate dissent. Their duty is to defend the Constitution, not to be deployed against Americans.
Trump is clearly provoking conflict to justify authoritarian control, to punish states like California for standing up and speaking out against his cruelty, and to distract from his ‘One Big Ugly Bill’ that would strip 16 million Americans of their health care.
Marines are trained for combat, not for community policing or de-escalation. Deploying them is a deliberate provocation, masquerading as law enforcement, and it is making our community less safe.
President Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard and the Marines into Los Angeles, against the clear objections of the Governor and local officials, is a dangerous and reckless escalation. These deployments are unwarranted, unlawful, and put American lives at risk.
I stand with LaMonica McIver and look forward to her name being cleared in court. Together, we will continue standing up for our communities and protecting our democracy from the abuses of power by this lawless administration.
The charges against Rep. McIver are purely politically motivated and have no legal merit. This indictment is yet another attempt by the Trump administration to intimidate Members of Congress who are doing their job of holding the executive branch accountable for its egregious overreach.

DACA recipients are American in every way but on paper. The best way to honor the 13th anniversary of DACA is to secure a future where they can pursue the American Dream without fear.
We have failed to provide them with a path to citizenship, even as they pay into a system that offers them little in return.
For 13 years, #DACA has transformed lives and shown the immense value of allowing people to live and work here legally. These young people have only ever known this country as home, yet they continue to face overwhelming uncertainty – especially today.
The Trump administration must be held accountable for these deeply damaging and politically motivated actions. We remain committed to protecting the rights, safety, and well-being of every resident of Ventura County.
We will continue working closely with state and local officials to protect our community and ensure that all Ventura County families, regardless of immigration status, feel safe. We can and we must enforce our immigration laws while upholding the rule of law and respecting due process.
Neither we nor our colleagues have received any notification or briefing from ICE about these activities. Our inquiries to the administration have gone unanswered. This total lack of transparency is unacceptable.
The Trump administration is deliberately inflicting harm on immigrant families and doing so without transparency, accountability, or even basic communication with Congress.
