USCIS has slowed and even refused to process applications. Now, the Trump Administration wants to use these delays as justification to arrest and detain refugees who are in the United States legally.
It's wrong, illegal, and we will fight this.

I’m opposed to any plan, especially one that ignores public input, to cut off safe biking routes for Virginians.
Forcing bikes to share walkway space with pedestrians or roads with cars is dangerous, and ripping up existing biking routes to do it is nonsensical.
I'm relieved that after meeting with the Arlington Postmaster, USPS has committed to clearing the backlog of undelivered mail by early next week.
A new manager has already been hired and authorized additional resources, including hiring more staff, to prevent further delays.

On February 19, 1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed E.O. 9066, authorizing the forced relocation & incarceration of more than 125,000 Japanese Americans, solely because of their heritage.

Over 125,00 Japanese Americans were forcibly removed and incarcerated during WWII simply because of their heritage.
As we see echoes of this shameful past today, we recommit ourselves to standing up for immigrants and ensuring history's darkest chapters are never repeated.
Donald Trump and Russ Vought have fired federal workers by the thousands without cause.
I joined @oversightdemocrats.bsky.social to highlight the devastating impacts these firings have had on my constituents, our local economy, and the services Americans depend on.
Trump is threatening to take America to war with Iran unless they make a deal like the one he tore up in 2017 to give up the nuclear weapons program he claimed to have “completely and totally obliterated” a few months ago.
No war with Iran.

Protecting the Potomac River is essential to safeguard public health and the long-term well-being of everyone in our region who depends on it.
I will continue to advocate for accountability and transparency as we address both the immediate and long-term impacts of this spill.
I’ve also been working with the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to ensure this is included in the must-pass Water Resources Development Act, which would allow repairs to begin immediately.
After we learned of the leak, I submitted a request with
@raskin.house.gov and @eleanornorton.bsky.social for urgent federal funding to repair and modernize the Potomac Interceptor, and begin rehabilitating the damage.
Beyond addressing immediate impacts, we must also address the root cause of the spill. The failure of the Potomac Interceptor wastewater network underscores serious infrastructure vulnerabilities that must be promptly fixed to prevent a disaster like this from happening again.
We also continue to coordinate with the VA Dept. of Health to ensure clear guidance is available to protect Virginians from potential exposure and impacts. My team specifically asked for a Recreational Water Advisory for Virginia residents, which VDH issued.

Regional drinking water shouldn't be impacted, but the scale of the spill demands urgent action, transparency, and solutions.
We remain in contact with @prknetwork.bsky.social, which is testing water quality and tracking environmental impacts in real time.

The recent sewage spill into the Potomac River is a serious environmental and public health concern.
My office has been coordinating with the appropriate agencies since first learning of this spill to fix the Potomac Interceptor and ensure all risks are addressed.
Warmest wishes to all celebrating the Lunar New Year! As we welcome the Year of the Fire Horse, may it bring renewed energy and vibrant new beginnings.

Trump officials finally admit what I've been saying for a year: "officials in the Commerce Department and US Trade Representative’s office believe [Trump's] tariffs [a]re hurting consumers by raising prices."
My bill would halt these tariffs immediately:
