Yet another reckless attempt by the Trump Administration to deface one of America’s crown jewels — Big Bend National Park in West Texas. As Pecos County Judge Joe Shuster put it plainly, “Nobody wants this damn wall. It serves no purpose.”
The libertarian Cato Institute: Immigrants reduced the deficit by over $14.5 trillion over the last 30 years. While Trump foments scapegoating, the facts are clear—America is a nation built and strengthened by immigrants.
I voted NO on a bill that that weakens protections on “less-than-lethal” weapons, like tasers and bean bag rounds. These devices cause serious harm— survivors in Austin know that. This loophole tells millions of felons and individuals with serious mental health problems to come and get your weapons
Instead of relief, working families get more higher prices on everything. To stop this chaos and rein in unchecked tariff power, I’ve sponsored the Stopping a Rogue President on Trade Act — legislation to permanently bar presidents from unilaterally imposing tariff taxes that hike costs on Americans
Our would-be king just announced a new 10% global tariff after the SCOTUS struck down his national emergency tariffs as unlawful — and he refuses to refund the billions paid by small businesses and consumers. That tariff regime raised prices by an estimated $1,700 a year for the average family.
Another excess from Trump royalty: Kristi Noem is flying around in a taxpayer-leased luxury jet with a bedroom, showers, and a bar—and now wants taxpayers to pay $70 million to buy it for her, all while immigrants continue to suffer.
About as useful as a snake oil salesman, Trump offers a website redirecting consumers to Big Pharma’s webpages to purchase their medications in cash—costing them more than a copay with their insurance. Instead of lowering drug prices like he promised, Trump just helps manufacturers boost their sales
The consolidation of race, ethnic, and gender study programs at UT-Austin is another outrageous example of Republican political interference in higher education. Texas students and faculty should be moving forward, not watching decades of academic progress getting rolled back.
Powerful reminder from Governor Pritzker on the threat of the Trump regime’s quest to “drip authoritarianism…into our veins.” As the Governor reminded, “Injustice can become a genetic condition we bequeath on future generations if we fail to face it forthrightly.”
Emulating his authoritarian buddies, Trump works to brand everything he touches in his own name and image. He craves cult worship, but freedom-loving Americans will not bow down to this wannabe king.
Thoughtful discussion on ensuring that consumers have access to necessary medications and clinics with financial challenges can continue to serve our community. Important to protect the 340B program from Big Pharma; it's enabled Austin clinics to offer behavioral health care and addiction treatment
Mass shootings keep devastating communities. Instead of real solutions, Republicans pushed a dangerous loophole that will open the way for millions of felons and individuals with serious mental health problems to acquire so-called “less-than-lethal” weapons.
The Fire Horse calls us to courage and action. May its spirit renew our resolve to stand together, oppose those who would drag us backward, and move our country toward a more just and inclusive future for all.
As families across our community welcome the Year of the Fire Horse, I am grateful for the longtime friendships and partnership I share with so many in our Asian American community. Your culture, entrepreneurship, and civic leadership strengthen Texas every day.
The Trump administration acts like what we don't know can't hurt us. Texans know better. We've seen how hurricanes, heat waves, and other extreme weather harm Texans. No justification for Trump trying to repeal our most important protections.
Instead of working with Democrats to stop the killing and brutality, Trump spent the weekend at his luxury golf resort and Republicans have left town. They are nowhere to be found at a time when the American people overwhelmingly demand an end to the brutality in our communities. You deserve better.
