[2/2] After declining to consult with allies before launching his reckless war of choice, and spending the past year insulting them, Trump now finds he needs them. The world economy, other countries, and American families are bearing the cost of his arrogant, reckless war.
[1/2] Friday, Trump's incompetent Secretary Hegseth said we "don't need to worry" about the Strait of Hormuz. Now, “go-it-alone” Trump is begging, then threatening other countries to help him fix the disastrous and dangerous self-described "mess" he has created.
After leaving our servicemembers unprotected from Iranian attack, Trump’s political action committee is now fundraising off of their unnecessary deaths. His betrayal of his office continues with shameful disregard of the well-being of the troops he promised to protect.
[2/2] If he has any real interest in peace, Trump should immediately demand both Netanyahu and Hezbollah reach a durable ceasefire agreement, support the Lebanese army in seizing Hezbollah’s missiles, and sponsor eventual direct peace talks between Lebanon and Israel.
[1/2] Tens of thousands in Lebanon are once again caught in the crossfire between Hezbollah and Netanyahu. More than 850 people, at least 107 of them children, have been killed. Israeli evacuation orders and airstrikes have forced 800,000 people from their homes.
[3/3]…. every assault on our institutions, every abuse of power—many of us, including thousands of Austinites, are pushing back. I remain hopeful that ultimately our democracy will prevail and that international relations based on mutual respect, will be restored.
[2/3] Not really America first, but America only, claiming that the only way we win is when others lose, maligning our allies while aligning with our adversaries. Just know that for every outrageous tweet…
[1/3] Thanks to Austin Sister Cities & Kristie Bryant, SXSW, & Mayor Watson for great International Breakfast. As I spoke: This Administration represents the opposite of the approach that has brought Austin success.
Another gift from Trump to his pal Putin.  This enables the Russians to continue killing long suffering, Ukrainian civilians. Of course, Trump’s reckless war against Iran is his greatest gift to the Russian war criminal.
[2/2] His “patriotic press” is one that accepts Trump regime lies in order to sell this reckless war to the American people. Hegseth follows the logic of Orwell’s Big Brother: “War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength.”
[2/2] And when he finally addressed the additional servicemembers killed yesterday? “Bad things happen.” And not accepting responsibility for thefatal mistake of bombing an elementary school with at least 175 deaths, which Trump tried to blame on Iran.
[1/2] Recommend you watch Pete Hegseth’s press conference for an unmatched display of arrogance. Soaring oil prices nearing $100 per barrel? You “don’t need to worry about [that].”
[2/2] A recent survey by the American Jewish Committee found that 91% of American Jews say they feel less safe in America today.   This is unconscionable. Antisemitism, hate, and bigotry in all forms have no place in our world.
[1/2] Families should never live in fear as they attend their house of worship. A driver ramming his truck into a synagogue outside Detroit is yet another horrific attack against the Jewish community — part of a deeply troubling pattern across the globe.
As Trump Regime insists that it shouldn’t be denied the ability to use AI for domestic mass surveillance and to operate weapons without human control, Anthropic has rightly declined. Now it has been joined by other important forces in opposition to this dangerous Regime overreach.
Great to join Chancellor Russell Lowery-Hart and Austin Community College trustees in partnership with the Trellis Foundation to make greater use of AI to help support students and to train students in working with AI.
Republicans appear ready to give Trump an extra $50B for his illegal war on Iran—money they refused for health care, education, and food security. Long as they continue acting as a doormat for Trump, he will continue pushing the red line, ignoring checks & balances, & behaving like an authoritarian.
