The government may be shut down, but my office is still open and working hard for the people of Illinois' 11th District. As of this October, my office has returned $3,248,511.35 to constituents and resolved 653 cases involving federal agencies.
Trump's not using the National Guard in Illinois to stop violent crime—he's trying to create chaos as he pulls off another authoritarian power grab. It's unconstitutional and un-American.
My colleagues and I will not be intimidated, and neither will the people of Illinois.

Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the White House. This isn’t fooling anyone.
400,000 people in Illinois rely on ACA tax credits to pay for their health care. Republicans are shutting down the government because they want these credits to expire.
This morning, my colleagues and I stood on the House steps, ready to negotiate a bipartisan funding agreement that prevents health care premiums from skyrocketing.
House Republicans are still nowhere to be found.
The government shuts down at midnight.
@housedemocrats.bsky.social are in DC and ready to negotiate in good faith for a bipartisan funding bill.
Meanwhile, House Republicans canceled votes and are refusing to come back to DC.
