On today’s Democratic Daily Download, @adamsmith.house.gov, Ranking Member of the @democrats-armedservices.house.gov Committee, raises the alarm about threat the Trump Administration poses to U.S. national security.
Every American should want our elections to be free, fair, and safe.
That's not what this executive order is about. It is another unconstitutional power grab.
The federal government's job is to protect elections and protect the right to vote, not to undermine them.

On today’s Democratic Daily Download, Rep. Jim Himes, top Dem on the House Intel Committee, breaks down the Signal chat controversy, why it’s so serious, and what Dems are doing about it.
In this week's energy hearing, we talked again about the importance of grid reliability in Texas and across the country. This is what government is about—pooling our resources and our expertise to keep us safe.
There are so, so, so many things wrong here.
But the most important thing is this:
The administration officials on this chat are responsible for the lives and safety of our troops, and all Americans.
Their careless, dangerous incompetence is inexcusable and disqualifying.

@reptedlieu.bsky.social on today’s Democratic Daily Download.
Texting top secret war plans is a serious breach of national security protocol. We’re calling on Republicans to join Democrats in opening investigations to get to the bottom of this misconduct.
84 days.
That's how many days more, on average, women have had to work to make what their white male counterparts made in 2024.
That is why I am a cosponsor of the #PaycheckFairnessAct.
Someday, we won't be marking #EqualPayDay three months into the next year.
A useful tool. This is why what is happening in Washington is so important to everyone. Take the quiz.
Hurricanes don't care who is in the White House.
I joined @repwesleybellmo.bsky.social in a letter to the Trump Administration explaining why its effort to slash life-saving weather response services at NOAA is dumb and dangerous.
This World Tuberculosis Day, President Trump needs to recommit U.S. funding for USAID's critical work to stop the spread of drug-resistant TB.
Viruses don't recognize borders, as we know from recent experience.

Trump's tariffs disproportionately impact women.
To fight back, New Dems Rep. Pettersen and @repfletcher.bsky.social introduced the Pink Tariffs Study Act, which will give us the tools we need to understand why this happens and put money back in women's pockets.

President Trump's funding freeze brought a halt to important work in Texas and across the country to clean up orphaned oil and gas wells.
I led my colleagues in urging Interior Secretary Burgum to resume disbursing funds authorized in the bipartisan infrastructure law.

On today’s Democratic Daily Download, I covered Trump’s Executive Order to dismantle the Department of Education—paving the way for Republicans to slash support for students, teachers, and schools.
@housedemocrats.bsky.social will fight this every step of the way.

Today’s Democratic Daily Download recaps our Medicaid Day of Action. House Democrats joined Senators and Governors across the country to stand up against the Trump-endorsed Republican Budget that cuts Medicaid by $880 Billion.
To follow along: www.youtube.com/@HouseDemocrats
Today is a good day to share what one witness told me recently about what the Republicans' proposed Medicaid cuts would mean for Medicaid recipients and for all patients throughout the health care system that relies on Medicaid payments. Devastating.
In Texas, 61% of people living in nursing homes rely on Medicaid. People in mental health facilities and other care facilities also rely on Medicaid payments.
President Trump's and House Republicans' proposal to cut Medicaid to finance a tax cut for billionaires is a bad plan.
👶 In #TX07, 32% of children rely on Medicaid
🤰 In TX, Medicaid covers nearly 50% of all births
These cuts will hurt them and will hurt many others—including people who don't get their health care through Medicaid.
Republicans passed a budget that calls for $880 billion in spending cuts from the E&C committee, the vast majority of which will come from Medicaid.
