The NIH currently funds 4,400 active projects totaling $2.5 billion in Texas, much of it in Houston.
These cuts violate that law, hurt people, and undermine the very system of scientific research and groundbreaking advancements that we are so proud happen here in #TX07.
EPA employees conduct vital, nonpartisan work that people in #TX07 & across our country rely on every day for their health and safety. That's why I led an effort with @repjuliejohnson.bsky.social urging EPA to reconsider its plans to terminate EPA employees.

"Donald Trump is not serious about protecting people’s right to build their families on their terms, and yesterday’s inaction does not change that."

🚨Firing the public servants who ensure our food is safe to eat and that our medical devices work puts us all in danger. 🚨
NIH funds life-saving and groundbreaking medical projects across Texas through funds Congress has approved each year.
I asked all Texas congressmembers to join me in a letter to the NIH Acting Director to rescind NIH's cuts, and I thank all 12 of my Democratic colleagues who did.
With everything going on, it's important to celebrate what and who we love today. And to fight for them today and every day. I'll always love and fight for #TX07!
Team #TX07 takeover time! Is it any wonder that Congresswoman Fletcher's birthday is the same day as Galentines Day? As an ardent supporter of reproductive rights, equal pay, and voting rights, she's one of the best gals we know. Happy 50th birthday, Congresswoman!
President Trump’s 25% steel and aluminum tariffs have broken longstanding agreements with our trading partners and escalated an already damaging trade war, which will likely lead to even more price hikes, and in turn, higher inflation.
How is this bringing down costs for Americans?
Parents deserve the peace of mind that comes with knowing their child has the best possible start.
I joined @robinkelly.house.gov in introducing the PREEMIE Act to expand research, education, and access to care, giving infants a better chance at a healthy start.
The Trump administration’s announced policy to cut funding for medical research grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is terrible for #TX07 and for our country. My statement ⬇️
It is inexplicable and unacceptable that shadow President Elon Musk has gotten access to Treasury’s highly sensitive payment system for paying Social Security and Medicare, tax refunds, and more. Glad to join @casten.house.gov in one of many efforts to stop it.
This Congress must assert its authority and do its work. President Trump and House and Senate Republicans are allowing Elon Musk to substitute his judgment for that of the Congress at any time. It is unconstitutional and unconscionable, and I urged my @energycommerce.bsky.social colleagues to act.
People in #TX07 are concerned that Elon Musk, an unelected billionaire, has gotten access to the U.S. Treasury's payment system, our personal data, and more.
And they should be. It is outrageous. And dangerous.
That's why I support the efforts to stop this unprecedented and unacceptable access.
This week's Energy subcommittee hearing showed us another way unelected billionaire Elon Musk is creating chaos where we don't need it: reducing the federal workforce of experts we need in our energy sector to issue permits and keep us safe. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpM5...
@housedemocrats.bsky.social will continue to fight for the health, dignity, freedom, privacy, and autonomy of women and families across our country. We will not give up. [4/4]
Today, @markey.senate.gov and I introduced the #RightToContraception Act to respond to the very real threats to reproductive health care and bodily autonomy that we face today.
And it's not just Texas. Justice Clarence Thomas has said the Court should reconsider its decisions protecting fundamental rights to privacy, including the right to use birth control from Griswold v. Connecticut. [2/4]
Texas is ground zero in the fight for reproductive rights. When it comes to contraception, Texas is 1 of 7 states that allows pharmacists to refuse to fill birth control prescriptions based on their personal beliefs.[1/4]
