We need to unplug the production of housing adjacent transit so Californians can live affordably & conveniently.
Read my op-ed with @RepScottPeters here:
https://www.ocregister.com/2025/07/07/we-invested-in-mass-transit-we-should-let-californians-live-near-it/
NEW OP-ED: Californians have invested billions into public transit, but current State and local laws limit how many of us can live near high quality transportation hubs.
It’s also a warning that AI can carry the biases of its creators, and should be used carefully and within a regulated framework.
The X AI chatbot Grok made blatantly antisemitic comments right after @ElonMusk touted that it had been “improved”. This is unacceptable and incredibly alarming.
That’s why I joined my colleagues in demanding accountability from X AI. We must not accept this as the new normal for AI.
The Trump Administration is trying to roll back LGBTQ rights; but communities like West Hollywood keep pushing forward.
Honored to join APLA Health for the opening of the new Michael Gottlieb Health Center, expanding care where people need it.
Masked ICE agents. No names. No badges. No accountability.
That’s not law enforcement — it’s intimidation.
Proud to help lead the No Masks for ICE Act with Rep @NydiaVelazquez to bring transparency back to immigration enforcement.
Read more about the bill here:
Instead, they’re randomly picking up our neighbors in order to hit an inhumane human quota, while denying them the due process and civil rights protections they’re entitled to by law.
Trump & ICE promised to go after dangerous criminals. These profiles of who they’re actually arresting don’t match that promise.
Proud to announce a new $8+ million federal investment for Hollywood Burbank Airport.
This is key to easing the burden on local taxpayers while improving safety and supporting local jobs. More wins like this to come.
We don’t make our communities safer when law enforcement hides behind masks. We make all of us safer, & strengthen our democracy, when we have ways of keeping all law enforcement, including ICE, accountable. That’s why I’m a cosponsor on the No Masks for ICE Act.

The Supreme Court’s ruling on no-cost preventative healthcare will protect access to these vital services for millions of Americans on ACA.
Protecting preventative healthcare saves Americans in the short and long term.

House Democrats’ Democratic Daily Download is our latest way to cut through the noise and share what’s really happening in Washington. Listen as my colleague Rep. Laura Friedman breaks down what’s buried inTrump’s new law. For our district (OH-03) the Affordable Care Act premium increase is 48%.

On today’s Democratic Daily Download, @friedman.house.gov breaks down the top three things you need to know about the Republicans’ One Big, Ugly Bill — from kicking 17 million off their health care to making life harder for parents, all to fund tax breaks for the ultra-rich.
Even when money is restored — like the HIV prevention grants for LA I helped save — it’s often too late. All this chaos has a huge cost.
When DOGE & the Trump Admin freezes grant funding, it’s important to note that even if they unfreeze that funding, the damage is done.
Public services are disrupted. Programs unravel. People are fired and don’t return.

Glad the CDC reversed course and thankful for of the allies that stood with us and the LGBTQ community.
The Trump admin froze HIV prevention investments, cutting off lifesaving care across South LA. I led the fight to get this funding restored because science — not political spite — should drive public health.

Armed officers. Mounted weapons. In the middle of Los Angeles at MacArthur Park today. Was the plan to gun people down as they run away from masked agents who refuse to identify themselves?
This isn’t border enforcement and it isn’t making our communities safer.
