Wishing all those observing in our Ohio communities, and around the globe a meaningful Yom Kippur and an easy fast.
The suffering of innocents in Gaza has reached a critical point. It is heartbreaking as even people trying to deliver aid — including a Northwest Ohioan — are being turned away. Families, especially women and children, need every bit of help they can get. Humanity must be allowed to prevail.
Internet insults won’t reopen government. Speaker Johnson needs to do his job, call us back, and work in good faith to find the 'Big Middle.' The only way to reopen government is through bipartisan compromise—otherwise premium increases and hospital closures will put more stress on working families.
Remember to check in on your friends and family. Suicide affects millions of people every year, yet too many struggle in silence. Whether you’re facing challenges, supporting a friend or loved one, or are looking to help, your voice matters. #988Lifeline
Our government will shut down at midnight. Where are Republicans? On vacation—forcing a government shut down. While they sit at home and ignore millions of their constituents in need, House Democrats are here in DC defending our communities and their access to healthcare. We are not the same.
Great meeting with state and local National Guard at the 180th Fighter Wing in Toledo. Thank you for all you continue to do day in, and day out. I will always support the brave men and women that keep our NW Ohio communities safe in the skies above, and support their mission of service.
If the Trump Administration is aware that their policies are hurting NW Ohio farmers — maybe they could do something to fix that? Our farmers, producers, and growers don't have time to waste.
West Block on Parliament Hill.
In Ottawa to lead our US-Canada Bipartisan Interparliamentary Group. Strengthening Congressional-Parliamentary communication will help us address key issues including defense and environmental cooperation, and severe economic impact of Trump Tariffs on agriculture, energy, lumber, autos and tourism.
Argentina undercut US soybean farmers—taking advantage of President Trump's reckless tariffs. Now we're going to bail out Argentina with Billions in taxpayer money before we restore soybean markets for Heartland farmers? You can't even make this up! Is America really first for this administration?
Northwest State Community College in Archbold and our 983rd Army Reserve unit with Four County Career Center hosted a remarkable job fair to help students explore potential career opportunities. So happy to join and help inspire young people in our region to reach for the stars and dream big.
Humanitarian aid must be allowed to reach those in Gaza. I continue to call on the Israeli government to allow safe delivery of aid and I pray for the safety of innocents and those putting their lives on the line in the service of peace.
An agreement between City of Toledo and US Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District locks in $13 Million in federal investment I secured for new water infrastructure here. Honored to deliver these resources to ensure reliable drinking water for half a million NW Ohioans.
NW Ohio is blessed with extraordinary public lands that honor our history. From the hallowed grounds of Fallen Timbers to the wetlands of Ottawa Refuge, these places connect us to our past and sustain our communities. On National Public Lands Day, we recommit to protecting these treasured lands.
As Jewish communities in NW Ohio, across the Buckeye State, throughout our country, and around the globe begin Rosh Hashanah celebrations tonight, let this time spent with family bring you closer together. Wishing you all sweet tidings for a happy and healthy New Year to come.
Congresswoman Mary Rose Oakar brought intellect, joy, wit, keen insight, kindness, and dynamism to every occasion. Her heart of gold was truly one of a kind. It was an honor to reflect on her service last week after news of her passing.
Prices for beef, electricity, and essentials are going up. GOP cut health care and food assistance for workers in NW Ohio, but forced permanent tax breaks for Billionaires into law. Favors for friends with money and higher costs for families is NOT what Americans voted for. Unprecedented corruption.
As I returned home to NW Ohio last weekend, I found soul searching among people I represent, following tragedies in Colorado and Utah. Then, in the Point Place neighborhood of Toledo, I saw a sign that read “Love Always Heals, Hate Always Harms, All Welcome Sunday.” Simple words, but profound.

Standing up for working families, seniors, and small businesses by protecting access to affordable healthcare, and vital programs including Medicare and Medicaid. Those who would gut them will cause millions of Americans to lose coverage. We must reverse cruel GOP cuts to care.
