Trump's high tariffs on allies may cause the first policy induced recession since the Volcker recession (1980-82). Volcker had reason to control inflation, but with Trump it is just his whim. Bernanke warned of policy uncertainty causing recessions. Any other examples?
Proud of @booker.senate.gov ! It would be poetic justice if he beats Strom Thurmond's record of speaking 24 hour and 18 minutes to block the 1957 Civil Rights Act. Yes, the longest filibuster in our nation's history was to block civil rights
I’ve taken the Senate floor and will speak for as long as I’m physically able to lift the voices of Americans who are being harmed and not being heard in this moment of crisis. Watch here:

Run on common-sense progressive policy, FIGHT for what we believe in, get rid of old guard, and we will win. 1. Medicare for All 2. Advancing manufacturing in U.S. 3. Taxing the billionaires 4. Universal childcare 5. Universal education 6. Ending corruption in gov
We can't let our government be outsourced to billionaires who want to dismantle Medicaid & slash education funding to pay for tax breaks for billionaires. What we are seeing in response is a popular revolt to take back government for the people.
Thank you, Sherrod Brown. Democrats must listen and lead on issues that matter to American workers. Follow @dignityofwork.bsky.social
All work has dignity. Americans are working harder than ever, with less to show for it. Sherrod Brown is launching the Dignity of Work Institute to create an economy where work is valued, workers benefit from the wealth they create, and everyone can afford a decent living.
1 challenge w/Trump's policies is it takes 6-7 years to build factories. It won't be effective if the Admin doesn't work w/Congress b/c companies will only invest in new production if they believe any targeted tariffs & smart industrial policy will be permanent. prospect.org/economy/2025...
Trump promised to end endless wars—now he's bombing Yemen without Congressional approval. I stood up when Biden did it, and I’ll stand up now. I passed w/ Sen. Sanders & Sen. Lee, a historic War Powers Resolution on Yemen in 2019. No president is above the Constitution.

Glad to see @rokhanna.bsky.social get the recognition he deserves. He's one of the few Democrats who is truly honest, and his view of Progressive Capitalism is what the party - and the country - needs. The Progressive Congressman Who Wants to Take On JD Vance www.nytimes.com/2025/03/27/u...

Super PACs have given billionaires and corporate special interests a backdoor to pour unlimited money into our elections for 15 years. @repsummerlee.bsky.social introduced legislation that would ABOLISH super PACs nationwide.
GOP reps are attacking me for holding town halls in their districts. Maybe if they spent more time doing their job and talking to constituents, I wouldn't have to.

Thank you to @rokhanna.bsky.social for showing elected officials how to lead with courage and convictions. Our trans community is not a political pawn—it's a community of beautiful people who deserve to be treated with dignity.
We have to have a real conversation about merit in this country @jonathancapehart.bsky.social. Trump fired the previous highly qualified Joint Chiefs of Staff because of “DEI" and hired the most incompetent people leaking classified war plans.
Ending my day in Anaheim with over 1,000 people in a red district who are angry, frustrated, and ignored. Voters deserve better than GOP representatives who refuse to show up.
