I’m grateful to have spent the final day of the shutdown in one of our district’s most vital and welcoming communities. Muchísimas gracias, Clovis, for a meaningful day and for always opening your doors.
which now allows many longtime New Mexico residents to apply for compensation as potential downwinders. Making sure communities have access to these benefits is a top priority.
I ended the day with local health care professionals to hear how national health policies are shaping care in their community. I also shared information about the newly expanded Radiation Exposure Compensation Act —
Later, I sat down with cattle ranchers to discuss how current economic policies, including the Trump administration’s recent actions on Argentinian beef tariffs, are affecting their businesses and long-term stability.
I then met with local veterans to thank them for their service ahead of Veterans Day, and had the chance to speak with the officers who work every day to keep Clovis safe.
I began the day meeting with families affected by PFAS contamination and learning how this crisis has impacted both their health and their livelihoods. Their stories are essential to my work in Washington, and I am committed to fast tracking cleanup efforts and fighting for accountability.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Trump is in the files and we will make sure every American knows.
If Republicans were willing to make health care affordable, they would have extended the tax credits today instead of making a “deal” to vote on it in the future.
We must stand strong for working families because Republicans never will.
Republicans shut down the government and Trump is literally starving Americans because they don’t want families to have affordable health care. They prefer misery over mercy.
Trump has cut everything that the people we love depend on for survival. This is cruel corruption.

Federal workers aren’t getting paid and neither am I.
We’re all in this boat together.
Republicans could end this by opening the government and protecting affordable healthcare.
