This conflict never should have happened. Trump lied when he promised no new wars. And after three months of death and destruction, the rest of us are now left paying the price. His war proved only one thing: that diplomacy was the answer all along.
In the end, it looks like Trump negotiated the reopening of a strait that was already open before the war, and reached an agreement no better than the JCPOA—the deal President Obama secured through sustained multilateral negotiations (which Trump tore up because it wasn’t all about him.)
