I’m so saddened to hear about the passing of my friend and colleague, David Scott. David’s vision and leadership, especially when it came to empowering the next generation of Black farmers, will be deeply missed. My heartfelt condolences to David’s loved ones. May his memory forever be a blessing.
The U.S. Court of Appeals has blocked Olivia’s deportation, and a decision on her immigration case could take months or years.

This young woman should not be sitting in detention while the agency stalls, stonewalls, and spins. She should be released and reunited with her family in Maine.
Her attorneys have repeatedly sought clear answers about why she remains detained. ICE has yet to provide those answers. That is unacceptable. If the government is going to deprive someone of their liberty, it should at the very least be able to justify that decision—clearly and in writing.
🧵 So grateful to @msrachelforlittles.bsky.social, as well as local +national media, for sharing Olivia's story.

My concerns about her detention have only grown more urgent. She is a 19-year-old student who has reportedly lost a dangerous amount of weight—and whose mental health has deteriorated.
I’m grateful to Massie and my other colleagues (from BOTH sides of the aisle) for joining me in this fight. This goes beyond politics and party lines. Congress should be protecting families, farmers, and children, NOT doing favors for Bayer and other chemical giants.
Today, we have new images of Earth to marvel at—taken during the first lunar mission in a generation. On the heels of that incredible human feat, Earth Day feels especially meaningful. We only have one home. It's a special one. Let’s take care of it—now, tomorrow, and for every generation to come.

Captured in 1968 by Apollo 8, "Earthrise" may be the most powerful photo ever taken. Less than 2 years later, the first official Earth Day was celebrated. It wasn't a coincidence. Once we saw our planet for what it was—small, fragile, a beacon of light and life—it changed our perspective forever.

This is unacceptable. The mismanagement at the postal service has been clear for YEARS. And it’s impacting many of the communities I represent. I’ll be working on getting to the bottom of this, but I had to use yesterday’s opportunity in our appropriations markup to bring this issue to light.
WHAT THE HELL is going on at the USPS? Yesterday, I received an alarming message about a company that delivers mail for USPS to several island communities in Maine. Apparently, USPS has been stiffing this company for years—to the tune of $388K—and hasn’t paid for a SINGLE delivery in 2026.
This is totally unacceptable. The mismanagement at the postal service has been clear for YEARS. And it is impacting many of the communities I represent. I’ll be working on getting to the bottom of this, but I had to use today’s opportunity in our appropriations markup to bring this issue to light.
I introduced an amendment to direct Army + Arlington officials to conduct an impact study and require vet organizations be consulted. Regardless of what you think of the arch, we should all want to protect the sanctity of Arlington—and respect veterans' input. Republicans voted it down. Shameful.
Arlington National Cemetery is hallowed ground. More than 400,000 servicemembers and their loved ones are buried there. Yet Trump is insisting on building his massive arch within direct sight of this sacred place. Vets + military families have expressed deep concerns—and sued to stop construction.
Back in December, in response to Trump’s EO stripping union rights from federal workers, the House passed a bill to reverse the order. The Senate must follow suit immediately. The right to unionize is foundational to our democracy. Stripping away collective bargaining won’t make our country safer.
The Administration just terminated collective bargaining agreements for unions representing Shipyard workers. One union represents more than 300 workers. This is outrageous. In its memo terminating the contracts, DoD argued that union activity risks “conflicting” with national defense. Bullshit!
16 years ago today, the Deepwater Horizon disaster killed 11 workers and devastated the Gulf. DOI wants to recombine bureaus that were split up after investigations exposed failed oversight, while rolling back safeguards put in place after the disaster—jeopardizing worker safety + the environment.
As gas prices are soaring thanks to Trump’s war with Iran, it makes no sense to me why are they actively sabotaging renewable energy—which we know is the cheaper and more affordable option. Oh right: because they only care about Big Oil interests!
The Trump Admin paid a company $1 billion to cancel its offshore wind leases. They cited “national security” + “environmental” concerns. Literally days later, they removed a critical endangered species protection to allow unfettered drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. Just mindboggling hypocrisy.
