The head of the International Energy Agency says Trump's war with Iran a "major threat" to the global economy. This president is willing to create a worldwide economic depression—and a global energy crisis—with no plan to get us out of it.
If someone says Democrats are asking too much from ICE & CBP, they are lying to you. Republicans would rather keep pumping money into a billion-dollar deportation machine willing to abuse, kill, and kidnap anyone who gets in the way. The choice is clear.
I want to dismantle ICE—but Republicans won't even agree to do the bare minimum. Body cameras, proper identification, and REAL warrants are standard requirements for any police officer in the United States. There's no reason we shouldn't expect this from federal agents. More on this below.
Commuter rail is in crisis. My BRIDGE Act will create a brand-new program to dedicate $1.5 billion annually in fixing commuter rail bridges across the country.🚆
Senate Republicans are trying to appease Trump by passing the SAVE Act to ban vote-by-mail. The very same voting method Trump used earlier this month. Vote by mail helps many Americans who can't get to the polls (including our own president).
As the DHS funding fight continues, I’m cosponsoring @delauro.house.gov's bill to fund TSA, FEMA, and other critical agencies within DHS, without giving another unneeded cent to ICE and CBP. Republicans need to decide if they want to serve the American people more than they want to cater to Trump.
I don’t trust ICE in our airports any more than I did on the streets of Chicago. They are far more likely to cause fear than allay flyers' security concerns. Read my full statement on ICE agents at O’Hare here.
This tragic incident serves as another reminder of why we need to invest in aviation safety. I urge the National Transportation Safety Board to complete their investigation as soon as possible, and I call on the FAA and Secretary Duffy to take swift action to ensure this never happens again.
I’m thinking of the families of the deceased pilots and the many injured passengers and crew members from the crash at LGA in New York last night. More on this below.
Without his diligent work, the extent of Russia's interference in our elections would never have been uncovered, and my work on the Intelligence Committee would have been stymied for years. I am thinking of his family during this difficult time.
Robert Mueller was a dedicated public servant whose tenure as FBI director after 9/11 undoubtedly saved countless lives. He was devoted to investigating criminal activity and defending the rule of law.
Trump: “Robert Mueller just died. Good, I’m glad he’s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people! President DONALD J. TRUMP”
We have to stop putting debt on the nation’s credit card. I’m currently leading a Bipartisan Debt Reform Working Group of lawmakers dedicated to fixing the budget—without throwing money out the window.
13 U.S. service members have died and another 200 have been wounded in the war on Iran, but Trump refuses to rule out boots on the ground. This war has to end—U.S. troops are not disposable.
We are just TWO WEEKS AWAY from the deadline to submit for the Congressional Art Competition!😱 🎨 If you're a budding artist and high school student living in my district, you have till 5 pm Central on Friday, April 3 to submit your piece.
This Women's History Month, we're highlighting a few of the extraordinary women in our community and their achievements. Next up is Kendall Coyne Schofield, Illinois resident and Olympic-gold winning hockey player and captain🏒 ⛸️ 🥇
Trump claims this war will topple the Iranian regime, but now he wants to lift U.S. sanctions on them?   This man has no plan to keep our service members safe. The adults have all left the room, and the yes-men left are too afraid to properly advise him.
Oil and gas prices have surged as Iran intensified strikes on facilities across the Persian Gulf, prompting the Trump administration to consider lifting sanctions on Iranian oil. Here’s what you need to know [thread]:
By transferring the student loan portfolio to the Treasury, Trump is continuing to demolish the Department of Education—thinking Americans won’t notice. This bureaucratic move will also delay millions of Americans from getting the assistance they need, when they need it.
