Putin is a brutal dictator who invaded Ukraine. He understands strength, and he doesn’t see it in Trump.
"There's no deal until there's a deal." President Trump says in his remarks that the U.S. and Russia "haven't quite gotten there" in the summit, but says he and Russian President Putin "made some headway."
It's back-to-school season in Chicago, and families are stuck paying more for school supplies thanks to Trump's reckless tariffs. He promised lower prices on day one, but 200 days in, prices are higher for everything, including school supplies. Trump needs to bring prices down for families now!
Donald Trump has once again betrayed Ukraine and moved the goal posts for Putin. I'll be at Ukrainian Village Fest later today to reassure Ukrainians and Ukrainian Americans that we still stand with them. Ukraine is on the front lines in the fight for democracy. We cannot abandon them in that fight.
Trump gave Putin exactly what he wanted today. He literally rolled out the red carpet for Putin and walked away with no deal, giving Putin the green light to continue his conquest. Decisions about the future of Ukraine cannot be made without Ukrainian involvement. Slava Ukraini. 🇺🇦
Given Trump’s meeting with Putin today, we have to remember that appeasement does not work.

It didn’t work in 1939, and the result was the Second World War. It won’t work now.
The Mendenhall Glacier in Alaska—which has existed for thousands of years—is melting. So much so, that the National Weather Service issued a flood warning and Alaskans are already evacuating their homes. We must pass serious climate reform, before climate change comes for us.
When Ms. Cannon passed away on August 3, we lost a selfless champion.   I entered Ms. Cannon’s story into the Congressional Record so every American can celebrate her life, her work, and her dedication to the LGBTQ+ community. (2/2)
Most of us in Chicago have heard of Lori Cannon. Our “AIDS Angel,” she made it her life’s mission to serve Chicago's LGBTQ+ community: leading protests during the AIDS epidemic, collecting food donations for those in need, and honoring the deceased through the AIDS Memorial Quilt. (1/2)
90 years ago today, our government promised that you shouldn’t fall into poverty in your elder years following a lifetime of hard work. Today, over 2 MILLION people in Illinois depend on Social Security. I'm fighting to make good on that promise. #SocialSecurity90
Antoni has called Social Security a Ponzi scheme. He thinks the BLS shouldn’t release jobs reports. And his current employer, the Heritage Foundation, drafted Project 2025. See more @punchbowlnews.bsky.social (2/2)
Americans need nonpartisan jobs reports that they can trust, but Trump’s pick to run the Bureau of Labor Statistics, E.J. Antoni, is as partisan as it gets. (1/2)
Great time at North Halsted Market Days this weekend! I want to thank all the artists, vendors, and volunteers who always make this event a big hit. Thank you.
Trump's union-busting is an obvious attempt to silence public servants across the country while Trump and Lee Zeldin endanger our environment. (2/2)
Yesterday, I joined the AFGE rally to support Chicago EPA workers and their labor rights after Trump canceled their union contract. As climate change continues to threaten our health, our society, and our planet, EPA employees are on the front lines of this fight. (1/2)
Our communities deserve clean air and a safe climate. That’s why I'm joining @usrepkathycastor.bsky.social, @reppaultonko.bsky.social, and over 80 other colleagues in opposing the Trump EPA's reckless proposed rollback of the carbon pollution standards for power plants:
Enjoyed attending the Bud Billiken Back to School Celebration kickoff with @robinkelly.house.gov and Former Rep. Bobby Rush! Bud Billiken is America’s largest back-to-school event and one of Chicago's signature festivals. Thanks for having me!
The courts are clear: Washington can’t force local police to do ICE’s job. I'm proud to stand with @chuygarcia.house.gov, @durbin.senate.gov, & our entire Illinois Democratic delegation in Congress to demand an end to these unlawful attacks.
I was proud to help welcome 977 new Americans at the Citizenship Oath Ceremony at Wrigley Field this past week. Even in the dark, there can be light. Despite Trump’s constant attacks, Chicago’s immigrant community is stronger than ever🇺🇸

Kim Davis—who illegally denied same-sex couples marriage licenses—asked SCOTUS to overturn marriage equality as she seeks to avoid paying damages to those whose rights she violated. The Justices should not take this case, because marriage equality should NOT be up for debate.
