Republicans voted to allow Americans' healthcare premiums to DOUBLE in a few short months. Democrats are fighting to keep the government open, and to make sure people can afford their healthcare. Republicans aren't even at work.
Today, @housedemocrats.bsky.social stood on the Capitol steps ready to avert a Republican shutdown tonight. Meanwhile, Republicans are on vacation. They need to come to work, stop the shutdown, and protect Americans' healthcare.
Republicans are making life harder and more expensive with their reckless policies. They're taking us to the brink of a shutdown so they can keep driving up costs, especially healthcare. Work with Democrats to avert a shutdown and lower costs. It's not complicated.
We're on the verge of a shutdown, and House Republicans couldn't even be bothered to come to D.C. I'm here with my Democratic colleagues, ready to vote to protect Americans' healthcare and prevent a shutdown.
Everyone should be able to worship without fear of violence. My heart goes out to everyone affected by the shooting and arson at a house of worship in Michigan. This kind of violence cannot be normalized.
The Trump admin and his Republican allies are shortchanging local law enforcement and vital programs that help crime victims by hundreds of millions of dollars. That does not promote public safety.
Republicans only care about scoring political points. Otherwise they wouldn't be cutting funding for law enforcement. Today, I went to Charlotte to discuss crime and what we can actually do to combat it.
"Having Medicaid access is life or death." Hear from a local mother who relies on Medicaid to access healthcare for her daughter - the same Medicaid that Republicans eviscerated in the Big Ugly Law. I won't stand by as they attack healthcare funding people rely on.
Survivors of Jeffrey Epstein's crimes deserve to be heard. @raskin.house.gov and I are calling on Chairman Jim Jordan to let them testify. Political theater cannot drown out the voices of the women who endured this horrific abuse.
One year ago today, Hurricane Helene hit our state. The storm was devastating, and communities in Western NC are still rebuilding. We cannot abandon Western NC. I will keep fighting for the federal resources needed to rebuild schools, roads, business, and more.
North Carolinians know how damaging climate change is to our state, especially for victims of Helene and those living on the coast. I joined @foushee.house.gov and @adams.house.gov to urge Trump's EPA to keep combatting climate change. www.wcnc.com/article/news...
Republicans have the power to stop a shutdown and prevent people from losing their healthcare. I joined @protectourcare.org to call out Republicans' reckless plan that would kick people off their healthcare plans and raise costs for everyone else.
We're mere days away from a shutdown, and House Republicans aren't even returning to D.C. to vote. They're forcing a shutdown on the American people, and they won't even be at work to stop it.
The future of healthcare in our state depends on protecting Medicaid. Republicans in Congress already eviscerated Medicaid funding. Now, I'm fighting to make sure they don't raise premiums for everyone.
Trump and Republicans are already willing to shut down our government instead of lowering healthcare costs. Now, they're playing politics by threatening to fire thousands of federal employees for no reason. www.wral.com/story/white-...
