Unemployment Inflation Housing costs Food costs Healthcare shortages … all skyrocketing, and our communities are paying the price. This is Donald Trump’s America. This is the economy he created. We’re here to reclaim our country and economy to ensure the working people of this country can thrive.
As Vice-Chair of the Congressional Native American Caucus—I am honored to work with Tribal leaders to protect Tribal sovereignty, funding, and rights. We are on the frontlines working with Indigenous communities, and this is just the start. We’re not backing down!
The Epstein Investigation is so much bigger than you can imagine. It is not only about justice for survivors—it is also about the institutions and systems that protected rich and powerful men they knew were abusing women and children: the banks, the government agencies, and other powerful people.
Violence is never the answer. But neither is silence. The foundation of our democracy was forged in the crucible of debate & the idea that our voices are our most powerful tool. History will remember those who spoke up & worked to protect our democracy and bend the arc of history towards justice.
DOGE is back, & what is the GOP up to? Rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse? No, they’re using DOGE to platform climate denialism and anti-science theories. If they want to talk about climate and weather programs, I’m game. Let’s talk science, facts, and why we need real action.
Happy Monday! I am back in D.C. after a busy but wonderful weekend at home in NM. So much on tap this week, from DOGE to a critical deposition in the Epstein investigation to a looming government shutdown, here’s everything going down. ⬇️
Happy Hispanic Heritage Month, New Mexico! Hispanic heritage is so deeply woven into the fabric of our lives in NM and shapes who we are every single day. I am grateful to have been raised in a place that celebrates tradition, culture, language, and the importance of community. ❤️💛
This #SuicidePreventionWeek, I want to remind everyone that mental health matters, and nobody is alone. Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis line. In NM, you can also call 1-855-NMCRISIS. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out—help is here, and your life matters.
It is with deep gratitude and a heavy heart that we honored the life and legacy of Senator Fred Harris. His legacy lives on through the students he inspired, the lives he touched, and the justice he fought for every day. May we carry forward his vision for a more just and equitable world. 🕊️❤️
Some awesome news here in NM this week. We became the first state in the country to guarantee free, UNIVERSAL childcare for ALL families! And, our Creamland Dairy workers and Teamsters Local 492 reached a labor deal ending their strike! This is what pro-family, pro-worker policies look like!
In NM, water is life. I’m proud to join the entire NM delegation and other lawmakers in urging our fellow leaders in Congress to prioritize Indian water rights settlements and the passage of these bills. We have a fundamental duty to uphold the U.S.’s trust and treaty responsibilities.
Friends, I know it’s been a difficult 24 hours. I’m keeping everyone affected in my prayers during this difficult time. We’re wrapping up in D.C. and heading home to New Mexico for the weekend—where the work continues. Here’s the latest on the NDAA, Oversight, and what’s on tap for next week. ⬇️
Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11th. We honor the first responders, the heroes who ran toward danger, the families who lost loved ones, and the resilience of our communities that came together in the face of unimaginable tragedy.  May we never forget the sacrifices made on that day.
Not one toe stepped in D.C. City Hall. Not one consultation with City Council, law enforcement, or one public hearing. Since the GOP seems more concerned with pleasing the White House and the affairs of D.C. than their own districts, they should run for Mayor in D.C. Until then, hands off! #FreeDC
