There’s a lot going on right now, and it’s important to me that I remain accessible and accountable as I work for West Michigan.
That's why I’m hosting a telephone town hall this Wednesday at 5:30 pm!

I'm excited to hear from you!
My colleague Rep. Mike Levin and I introduced the Plastic Pellet Free Waters Act to protect Michigan’s waterways and the Great Lakes from harmful plastic pollution.
This legislation will help prevent plastic pellets from entering our waters, protect wildlife, and preserve the natural resources.
Too many Americans live paycheck to paycheck. With the cost of everyday needs skyrocketing, losing a job could upend your entire life. Services like SNAP are there to help you put food on the table and get back on your feet.
Donald Trump has done everything BUT lower costs for American families. His irresponsible tariffs have cost American families $1,625 in the last year. I won’t stand for it.

Life in America is too expensive.
My @NewDemCoalition colleagues & I have a plan to fix that.
So glad to see the Grand Rapids Public Museum carousel spinning again. This is a piece of West Michigan history that so many families grew up with, and now even more people will be able to enjoy it.

Proud to see my bipartisan Local Water Protection Act advance out of Committee. This commonsense bill will help communities reduce pollution and protect our lakes, rivers, and drinking water. Protecting West Michigan’s water is protecting our future.

Enjoyed meeting with the Native American Contractors Association to talk about supporting tribally owned businesses and expanding economic opportunity. Proud to work alongside leaders helping strengthen our communities.
Happy Birthday to the NAACP. For generations, the NAACP has been at the forefront of the fight for civil rights, justice, and equality. We are grateful for their leadership and continued commitment to building a more just and inclusive future for all.
Thankful for the opportunity to sit down with UAW leaders to talk about how we can better support Michigan workers and protect their rights. I’ll keep working to ensure workers across West Michigan have the stability, respect, and opportunities they deserve.
Great meeting with the Michigan Small Business Development Center to talk about how we can better support the small businesses and entrepreneurs that power West Michigan. I’m proud to work on bipartisan efforts to provide them the tools to grow, innovate, and succeed.
Special Olympics Michigan is doing incredible work to empower athletes and promote inclusion across our communities. I’m grateful for the chance to connect, and I will keep working to get individuals with disabilities the support and opportunities they deserve – in West Michigan and beyond.
Nurse practitioners play a critical role in expanding access to care across West Michigan. It was great to connect with a local nurse practitioner to discuss ways we can reduce barriers, strengthen the health care workforce, and get patients the care they need.
I stood with my colleagues in the Democratic Women’s Caucus today to defend Americans’ fundamental right to vote. The SAVE America Act would create unnecessary barriers for eligible voters, especially women. I will always fight to protect our democracy and make every citizen’s voice heard.
I met with leaders from Grand Rapids Community College to talk about how we can better support our students, strengthen workforce pathways, and expand opportunity here in West Michigan.
Clean water matters in West Michigan.
That’s why I introduced the Local Water Protection Act, which supports communities tackling water pollution caused by runoff from farms, neighborhoods, and urban areas.
So honored to have dropped the puck at the Muskegon Lumberjacks Mascot Night dedicated to first responders. Always proud to support our local teams with my two boys!
Team Scholten’s internship application is now live! If you are a college student or recent grad looking for a great experience serving West Michiganders, visit repscholten.us/intern to apply.
