Today, ICE denied @repscottpeters.bsky.social and me entry to areas where they hold detainees in the San Diego Courthouse. 1/3

Republicans and Trump have been happy to give away massive tax cuts for billionaires, build a new ballroom at the White House, and propose billions in a bailout to a Trump ally in Argentina.
But when we demand health care for working families? Republicans decide to shut down the government.
Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson predicted Monday the federal government shutdown may become the longest in history, saying he “won’t negotiate” with Democrats until they hit pause on their health care demands and reopen. https://to.pbs.org/4nfq5Je
“It runs counter to the goals of making housing more affordable. In the end, you’re just going to get fewer homes built.”
Trump's economy is crushing families. None of this is making life more affordable.

This is about protecting affordable health care for millions of families across the country!
This is why we're fighting, and we're not backing down.
Our nation’s story can’t be told without the story of the Indigenous people who first called this land home.
On Indigenous Peoples Day, we honor their histories, contributions, and resilience. We must continue to work towards a future rooted in justice and equality.
If Trump and Republicans thought we would rubberstamp their attacks on health care, they were wrong.
Millions of Americans are about to lose coverage. Millions more are about to see their premiums skyrocket. This is what's at stake.
I'm praying for a lasting, durable peace with the promise of a brighter future for Israelis and Palestinians alike. 3/3
I sincerely hope that this will bring the hostages home to their families, a surge of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and safety and security for all. 2/3
I'm encouraged to hear reports that a ceasefire agreement has been reached. 1/3
Republicans are saying "this has nothing to do with Epstein."
It has everything to do with Epstein.
Speaker Johnson must reopen the government, swear in Adelita Grijalva, and release the Epstein Files!

On Latina Equal Pay Day, we’re reminded that pay inequity fuels the wealth gap. The @hispaniccaucus.bsky.social is committed to advancing policies that ensure Latinas earn what they deserve and build the wealth they’ve long been denied.
A new nonpartisan report shows the cost of Republican plan to raise health care prices:
– Premiums will more than double in 2026
– A 60 year old couple making $85k would have to pay $22,600 more a year
This is what's at stake, and why we're fighting.

Speaker Johnson REFUSES to swear Adelita Grijalva in because he knows she’ll be the last signature we need to force a vote to release the Epstein files.
Swear her in. Release the files!
My constituents want me to get to work but House Republicans are more concerned about protecting the Epstein files.

It’s been two years since Hamas' brutal October 7th attacks on Israel.
Today, we remember and honor the innocent lives lost and the hostages who remain captive to this day.
I continue to pray for peace and security for everyone affected in the region.
I am Latino. I speak Spanish. I go to Home Depot. Now that SCOTUS has greenlit indiscriminate immigration enforcement, what’s to stop ICE from picking me or anyone in our community who looks like me up?
That’s why I’ve demanded answers from DHS about their use of unconstitutional racial profiling.
Republicans control the House, Senate, and White House, and have chosen to shut the government down rather than lower health care costs and reverse Trump's cuts to Medicaid.
Our new analysis shows that the average increase in out-of-pocket premium payments from the expiration of the ACA enhanced premium tax credits is *even higher* than previously estimated.

As we head towards a government shutdown, I want to make sure you have all of the resources you need.
Visit my website for more information on what the current shutdown status is and which services could be interrupted.
This is what's at stake.
Time for my Republican colleagues to choose. Are you on the side of the people? Are you on the side of families trying to afford their care?
Or will you continue to bow down to Trump, who's marching us closer to a shutdown?
I'm going to keep fighting to save health care.
