So great to meet with SEIU-UHW to hear firsthand how Republicans’ proposed Medicaid cuts would hurt their ability to care for patients. These cuts would prevent life-saving medical care and put even more strain on providers. I’m fighting every day to stop this.
I joined the Rolando Community Council meeting to share an update on what I’m doing in Congress to push back against Trump and Republicans’ attacks on our kids, health care, and democracy. Thank you for showing up, sharing your stories, and joining me in this fight.
Trump is attacking students, families, educators, and schools by ILLEGALLY dismantling the Dept. of Education. Help me fight back. Share your story.
The LGBTQ+ community – from trans service members to queer kids – deserves respect and to live free from discrimination. Our fight for equality has never been more urgent and that’s why I’m so grateful to be doing this work alongside groups like San Diego Pride.
Trump just signed an Executive Order to dismantle the Department of Education. You need to know:
1) This is ILLEGAL and WILL be challenged in the courts. Only Congress has this authority.
2) This is an ATTACK on students, families, educators, and schools. Kids will pay the price.
📆 Mark your calendar! This Saturday at 12pm PST, I’m holding a virtual town hall to update you on all the chaos coming from Trump, Elon Musk, and Republicans in Congress, and to answer your questions.
Watch live on my Facebook page or RSVP here to join on Zoom: tinyurl.com/sarajacobstownhall
Meet 5-year-old Delilah and 2-year-old Cesar.
THESE are the faces of kids who will lose health care when Republicans cut at least $880 billion from Medicaid/Medi-Cal.
@padilla.senate.gov and I will keep sharing these amazing stories and fighting for everyone who relies on Medicaid.
Trump's tariffs will raise the cost of building a single-family home in the U.S. by $7,500 - $10,000.
Just one way these tariffs are going to be paid by Americans. San Diego’s housing prices are already way too high, and this will only make them worse.
Some of my Republican colleagues in Congress have told me Trump defying a court order was their red line. Well, it's happening - but where are they? We need to hold their feet to the fire. Our Constitution is at stake.
There's no better time for House Republicans to be on the right side of history and cosponsor my bill – H.R. 1196, the Protect U.S. National Security Act – to prohibit funds from being used to eliminate USAID. 👀
Amazing to see the courts stand on the side of our transgender service members who are talented, skilled, and have sacrificed so much for all of us.
Join me for a virtual town hall this Saturday at 12pm! I’ll give an update about how Trump, Elon Musk, and House Republicans’ are tearing apart the federal government and my work to fight back – and I’ll take questions from YOU. RSVP: tinyurl.com/sarajacobstownhall
It was an honor to join the Ahmadiyya Muslim community for Iftar. To everyone observing – Ramadan Kareem!
In America, EVERYONE has a RIGHT to due process - regardless of immigration status. It’s fundamental to our Constitution.
Deporting hundreds of people in secret by invoking a wartime proclamation is a blatant abuse of power by President Trump.
So great to talk with folks at BAPAC SD who were rightfully worried about Trump and Musk’s attacks on our democracy and critical services. But we aren’t powerless. We are fighting back through legislation, litigation, oversight, and public pressure.
Trump is gutting the Department of Education, which supports students, prevents discrimination, and funds afterschool and summer programs. In #CA51, that cuts:
- $82 million for students with disabilities
- $33 million to feed kids at school
- $28.4 million for low-income Title I schools
DOGE says they’re closing down these offices in San Diego. As always, if you need help with a federal agency, please reach out to my office.

I’ll do the math: that’s $1,829 per month for infant care and $1,085 per month for a 4-year old’s care.
A stark reminder from @epi.org of just how unaffordable child care in California is. We need a universal, affordable child care system NOW.
Trump Tariffs + firing people who prevent the avian flu = 10% spike in egg prices
My thoughts on the Republican majority’s poor excuse for a Continuing Resolution:
