Last week, we elevated Black women's voices on uterine health. No more overlooked pain. Black women are 3x more likely to develop fibroids, & we're bringing their fight to Washington. Proud to co-sponsor the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Uterine Fibroids Research and Education Act.
16 years. That's how long the minimum wage has been stagnant while Republicans cause prices to soar. Every job should offer dignity and a living wage. It's time to raise the wage to $15.
Our fall internship is open to interested applicants! Interns can be based in DC or in the District offices in Chicago, Matteson, or Danville.

27 years ago, U.S. Capitol Police Officer Jacob Chestnut & Detective John Gibson were shot and killed in the line of duty, protecting our Capitol. Thank you, Capitol Police, for your unwavering dedication. In turn, we must pass gun safety laws to protect law enforcement and our communities.
The truth is that the House Republicans do not prioritize your health care. President Trump and his Republicans raised your health insurance costs to give more money to those who don’t need it.
Republicans left no stone unturned in their bill’s assault on health care.
The GOP message is clear: if you can’t afford health care, you’re on your own.

Proud to support our Veterans and the Veteran Skills to Jobs Act, which bridges the gap from military service to civilian careers. Our heroes have earned these opportunities.
No surprise – House Republicans blocked the release of the Epstein Files to protect Trump and his billionaire allies. The American people deserve the truth and a Congress that works for them — not Epstein’s associates. They must release the Epstein Files now!
The President vowed not to touch Medicaid—he lied. The Big, Ugly Law guts Medicaid to fund $4.5T in tax breaks to billionaires. I will not let vital healthcare be sacrificed for the ultra-wealthy. Healthcare is a right. We must protect and expand it—not dismantle it.
Hardline conservatives claim to care about the deficit. But they all folded and voted for President Trump’s Big, Ugly Law that blows up the deficit by another $3.4 TRILLION.
This is straight from the nonpartisan @USCBO:
For every meal a food pantry provides, SNAP provides 9. I am grateful to organizations like @riversidemc, @fooddepository & many more who provide for our neighbors, but they can’t solve the food insecurity crisis alone. Federal programs like SNAP are essential, and should be funded.
The Big, Ugly Law cut SNAP by $200 billion. Meaning 205,000 of our Illinois families , veterans, and seniors could lose vital food assistance. This will overwhelm already struggling food pantries and force kids to go to bed hungry. www.chicagotribune.com/2025/07/20/i...
Speaker Johnson if you truly believe in transparency, why did you & House Republicans block the release of the Epstein files last week? Then shut down the House early to block another vote on the release? What are you hiding?
If you or someone you know is struggling, or needs help, resources remain available and offer specialized support for those in the LGBTQ+ community.
If you’re in Illinois, you can still call or text 988.

OUTRAGEOUS: Republicans shut down the 988 crisis hotline for LGBTQ+ youth. While this federal decision should be reversed, I'm proud that Illinois will continue to support our LGBTQ+ youth and keep this vital lifeline alive.
In 14 years, the CFPB has returned over $21 billion to consumers harmed by illegal or unfair financial practices—benefiting more than 200 million Americans through refunds, debt cancellation & other relief. I’ll continue to protect people and hold bad actors accountable. 💪🏾
The House GOP rubberstamped heartless cuts to global aid, abandoning our allies. This isn't "America First"-- it's a dangerous retreat that cedes our influence & jeopardizes global stability. Republicans are prioritizing billionaire tax breaks over American leadership.
Remembering the Aurora tragedy 13 years ago. 12 lives lost, 58 injured. Congress's inaction on gun violence is unacceptable. I'll always fight for commonsense reforms to keep our communities safe.
President Trump’s cuts are a direct assault on the public. They threaten vital local news, emergency alerts, and even beloved PBS KIDS programming like Sesame Street, disproportionately harming rural and smaller communities who rely on these services. This is unacceptable.

President Trump's agenda isn't lowering costs — it's raising alarm bells. These reckless cuts, rubberstamped by House Republicans, gut critical services for all Americans, just to fund tax breaks for billionaires. We must fight for working families, not the ultra-rich.
