JD Vance claiming the officer involved in the Minneapolis shooting has absolute immunity is absurd. You can't pretend accountability does not exist. Propaganda is not a legal argument. There MUST be a transparent and independent investigation.
He's chosen to abdicate our leadership during the existential fight of our time for a clean and sustainable future. Climate change doesn't respect borders, and we can't address this crisis alone, but now we're now less safe, more isolated, and derelict in our duty as the leader of the free world.
Yesterday, President Donald Trump withdrew the United States from 66 international organizations and agreements, including the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the international treaty that forms the basis for all international negotiations on climate change.
This is what effective leadership looks like. Now—if the Senate follows the will of the House—millions of Americans won’t have to choose between their dreams, their basic needs, and their health. This is why I never lose hope, and this is why I never stop fighting.
I have been pushing for an extension on the ACA enhanced premium tax credits from day one. Some House Republicans finally listened. Today, Speaker Johnson was forced to bring an extension to the floor for a vote, and it passed.
In committee today, I looked at what happens when care gets too expensive: people delay it, skip it, and suffer. That’s why today’s vote to expand premium tax credits matters. Coverage is the difference between getting help or going without.
Doris in Health Care Subcommittee
Today I will be voting to extend the ACA enhanced premium tax credits. Speaker Johnson has been trying to kick the can down the road in hopes we’ll just give up. That is never going to happen. Let’s do what we were sent here to do and deliver for the American people.
Secretary Noem’s claims to justify what happened today are deeply disturbing and completely unacceptable. This cruelty reflects a failure of leadership. She should resign before more innocent people are harmed by this administration’s agenda. [2/2]
What ICE is doing in our neighborhoods is not law enforcement. It is destructive and authoritarian. This is an effort by President Trump to scare our communities and spread fear. ICE is actively making us less safe. Renee Nicole Good was a mother and an American citizen. [1/2]
ICE agents have repeatedly shown a gross lack of training and disregard for law enforcement norms and constitutional rights. Now they have killed a woman in front of her neighbors. Today’s horrific events exemplify the consequences of their recklessness and incompetence. Get ICE out of our cities.
I am monitoring the tragic and fatal ICE Shooting in Minneapolis today, and will be closely watching as more information becomes available. ICE has spent the last year conducting authoritarian and community wreaking havoc.
A democracy is only as strong as the people tasked to uphold it. I promise you this, we will never waiver and I'll never relent. We won't be intimidated. Ever. Our elections will remain fair, and their results will be respected as the will of the people. My colleagues and I will accept no less.
Today, we gathered with the families of Capitol Police officers who put their lives on the line to protect us on January 6th, 2021. This gathering should serve as a reminder to the American people what integrity and adherence to a sworn oath looks like.
House Democrats hold vigil in remembrance of January 6th, 2021
Seeing that trust betrayed from within the highest levels of our government only reinforces my unwavering commitment to my oath of office and to holding accountable those who chose to violate theirs. [3/3]
As I reflect on the events of January 6, 2021, I remember the hours my colleagues and I spent hiding from a violent mob—and in those moments, I was thinking about you, the American people. [1/3]
While we often disagreed, we never disagreed on the core principle that we are here to serve our constituents. He was genuine, straightforward, and always himself. I will miss him as a colleague and a friend. My loving sympathies go out to his wife Jill and family. [2/2]
Trump and his cronies clearly care more about profits for oil companies than the American people. I will fight tirelessly for the highest level of accountability, transparency, and a much-needed foreign policy course correction. No more wars. [2/2]
