Workers across America keep our country running. I joined my Labor Caucus colleagues in introducing this vital legislation that addresses the importance of fighting for worker's rights, safety, & dignity—especially with Trump in office. Your fight is our fight & we are in this - together. 🤝
I introduced the LET’S Protect Workers Act with @bobbyscott.house.gov, @norcross.house.gov, @debbiedingell.house.gov, & @repstevenhorsford.bsky.social. Our labor laws are so weakly enforced, and the penalties so minimal, that for many companies, breaking the law is just cheaper than following it.
A West New York couple needed help with their Uniting for Ukraine (U4U) parole re-authorization applications after the Trump Admin terminated the program. After persistent follow-up with USCIS, their cases were approved.
These bills & additional legislation by House Dems are a strong start. But combatting gun violence also requires standing up to hatred & promoting mental health with the same urgency as we take legislative action.
- Promote safe firearm storage to stop preventable deaths (H.R. 1564) - Restrict the most dangerous weapons of war from civilian use (H.R. 2790) - Establish a federal Office of Gun Violence Prevention to coordinate national efforts (H.R. 1307)
We can pass legislation that would: - Strengthen background checks so firearms don’t fall into dangerous hands (H.R. 3868) - Close deadly loopholes, including banning bump stocks (H.R. 2799)
We cannot accept this as our reality. House Democrats have put forward common sense GVP legislation - we just need ALL elected officials to offer more than their thoughts & prayers & do the right thing. Here’s how we begin to end the scourge of GV in our country & beyond🧵
Happy Hanukkah to families across our communities and beyond! May this season bring joy, unity, and meaningful celebrations to you and your loved ones as you light the way for love to conquer darkness. Chag Sameach!
I am glad that the State House Commission has taken off a vote to approve this unnecessary commercialization off of their agenda for now, but this fight is not yet over. We will continue to stand with Friends of LSP and all of the advocates fighting to preserve the park we all love. 2/3
Liberty State Park is a gem and a treasured oasis in our urban landscape for so many, including for my family. Building a warehouse for yachts at the gateway to LSP would mar the appearance and character of our beloved park. 1/3
I am horrified by the anti-semitic attack in Australia that took place on the first night of Hanukkah as Jewish-Australians were celebrating one of the most joyful holidays for Jewish people across the world.
“It was just carnage.” Australian Jews had been gathering on Sunday on Bondi Beach in Sydney for an event to mark the first night of Hanukkah, when gunmen started firing directly into the crowd.
This is not a problem without a solution - but one that requires elected officials to act. I have and always will fight for gun safety reforms to stop incidents like this from happening and tearing apart our communities. 2/2
