I am glad that the State House Commission has taken off a vote to approve this unnecessary commercialization off of their agenda for now, but this fight is not yet over. We will continue to stand with Friends of LSP and all of the advocates fighting to preserve the park we all love. 2/3
Liberty State Park is a gem and a treasured oasis in our urban landscape for so many, including for my family. Building a warehouse for yachts at the gateway to LSP would mar the appearance and character of our beloved park. 1/3
I am horrified by the anti-semitic attack in Australia that took place on the first night of Hanukkah as Jewish-Australians were celebrating one of the most joyful holidays for Jewish people across the world.
“It was just carnage.” Australian Jews had been gathering on Sunday on Bondi Beach in Sydney for an event to mark the first night of Hanukkah, when gunmen started firing directly into the crowd.
This is not a problem without a solution - but one that requires elected officials to act. I have and always will fight for gun safety reforms to stop incidents like this from happening and tearing apart our communities. 2/2
The shooting at Brown University is another horrific example of our national gun violence epidemic. We cannot accept a reality in which students must fear their safety taking final exams or in which parents are afraid to send their kids to school. 1/2
Congressman Randy Fine’s vile rhetoric against our Muslim communities is deeply disturbing and unacceptable. Our Muslim friends and neighbors uplift our state and our country. All of my colleagues must immediately denounce this Islamophobia and racist behavior. We must be better than this.
Absolutely shameful and not how our country should be. My heart breaks for the families of every immigrant who died on ICE's watch this year. Unsafe conditions at privately run, for-profit ICE facilities show a profound disregard for the well-being of our communities.
I’ve been notified of two more deaths in ICE custody in the last 24 hours — meaning that 25 people have now died in detention since Trump returned to office. That’s the most in more than two decades. The cruelty and inhumanity of this administration must end.
An airline causes nationwide chaos, and now they get off easy. How is that putting Americans first? This Admin continues to side with corporations over hardworking families.
That's why I joined my colleague Rep. Jayapal in legislation that would establish a standard for conditions inside detention centers and joined my NJ colleagues in calling out DHS & the GEO Group for their treatment of families specifically visiting Delaney Hall.
Trump's DHS doesn't care if you served our country or are a U.S. citizen. All they care about is inflating deportation stats, and they’ll say anything to cover it up when pressed.
Magaziner: How many US military veterans have you deported? Noem: We have not deported military veterans. Magaziner: We are joined on zoom by a gentleman who is an army combat veteran who was shot twice while serving our country. You deported him to Korea.
New Jerseyans know the dangers of polluted water, and we know there’s still work to do to keep our waterways clean. Yet House Republicans refused to consider my amendment to ensure their bill wouldn’t harm water quality in our estuaries.
📍Hackensack and Passaic Rivers with Hackensack Riverkeeper Great to be out on the water today with Captain Bill to discuss all the work that has been done - and all the work that remains - to make our waterways healthy and preserved for generations to come. Thanks for having us! 🫶
This is unacceptable. ICE must follow federal regulations and clearly identify themselves when making arrests. Their reckless tactics endanger our communities, put officers at risk, erode public trust, and show yet again that this Administration is not prioritizing your safety.
