The separation of powers is the cornerstone of our democracy. Both Democratic and Republican AGs have challenged executive actions in court. This has become increasingly common during the era of Obama, Trump 1.0 and Biden.
Democratic AGs have been successful in filing suits against the Trump Administration. So how do Trump and his Republican allies respond? They attack federal judges. Here’s why it’s not only problematic but also highlights their shameless hypocrisy. 🧵
We need to continue to invest in our public education system and meet the challenges of the moment. It’s hard work but we can - and MUST - do it. Let’s get it done!
In New Jersey, we put $1 billion in federal funding to work by improving K-12 outcomes, making higher education accessible for more students, and supporting our hardworking educators.
The Department works to create equitable educational opportunities for everyone, regardless of their background. Talk to educators and they will tell you how essential the federal support is.
It was GREAT visiting Gambert Shirts in Newark and hearing about their nearly 100-year history! And when you meet the owner, Mitch, you get a real sense of his passion for the craft. Thanks for having me!
Every day, our team works hard to serve our constituents. That’s why I call some of those who have worked with our office to check in on the status of their matter and hear directly from them. We're here to serve you, so please call us at (201) 309-0301 if we can ever be of assistance.
BIG thanks to the Hudson County Clerk’s Office for co-hosting today’s Passport Clinic! Together we helped over 70 neighbors apply for their passports! Our office is here to help - call us at (201) 309-0301.
GREAT to be in Union City with Mayor Brian Stack for the opening of Northeast New Jersey Legal Services' newest office! Grateful for their dedication to making legal services more accessible to the people who call this district home. Thank you for your advocacy and commitment to the greater good!
In Newark today with @kim.senate.gov and @replamonica.bsky.social to support our federal workforce and the housing programs that so many rely on. We are in this fight and will keep pushing to make affordable housing MORE accessible and pushing BACK against Trump’s cuts to HUD.
So let’s not be silent in this moment. Let’s make our voices heard. Let’s protect those who are the most fearful in this dark time in our country’s history. The stakes are too high and there’s no way I’m backing down from this fight.
Trump is targeting the people who go to our churches, go to school with our children and work alongside each of us to build a better future for our families AND our country.
None of this is normal. ICE agents have detained and questioned U.S. citizens. Trump has ignored court orders. He has invoked the Aliens Enemy Act for the first time since WWII.
Last month, Camila Muñoz, the wife of a U.S. citizen, was detained by ICE after returning from a vacation. She has no criminal record and has been held in a detention center since then.
Trump has moved to deport Mahmoud Khalil, a permanent resident whose pregnant wife is a U.S. citizen. The Administration has denied him due process and access to counsel, an unprecedented action that threatens the rights of ALL green card holders.
Last week, the Administration deported a 10-year-old U.S. CITIZEN diagnosed with BRAIN CANCER with her family in Texas while they were on their way to receive medical care.
The Trump Administration has taken unprecedented, inhumane and often unlawful actions to target individuals and families from immigrant communities across the country. Not concerned? Won’t impact you? Please read this 🧵
Our next Mobile Office Hours are coming up! Team Menendez will be at the Bayonne Library on Tuesday, March 18th at 4 PM. If you need help with a federal agency, be sure to stop by or call us at (201) 309 -0301!
