Happy birthday Mr. Chairman @benniethompson.bsky.social! Proud to work alongside you in Congress!
Many of us have questions about the execution of this funding freeze, but Democrats are determined to get answers and ensure the funding that's been secured by law is delivered. Republicans are trying to undermine the Constitution and harm working families—and that cannot stand.
I'm thinking about the federal funding for Miami-Dade County transit, Head Start programs for low-income children, Pell Grants for students to pay for classes, community health centers for seniors, and so much more.
Let’s be clear: this act is illegal and will only raise costs for everyday families. Congress has authorized these funds, and they must be delivered.
Cutting funding for housing, healthcare, and farmers will only raise rent, skyrocket medical bills, and hike grocery prices.
🧵Republicans are orchestrating a reckless and unlawful scheme to choke off virtually all federal funding from basic services.
Whether that funding is going to our farmers, our transit system, our students, our community health centers, or our non-profits, it’s all on hold.
Today, on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we mourn and remember the six million Jews and countless others murdered in the Holocaust.
May we unite to fight antisemitism, hatred, and intolerance, ensuring such atrocities are never repeated.
Jobs, jobs, jobs—that has always been my mantra!
I’m focused on creating new opportunities for Americans by introducing the ‘Jobs Now Act!’
This bill helps take measures to relieve barriers to employment!
No matter the cold, every Wednesday is #WearBlueWednesday because it's time we #BringBackTheHostages.
It warms my heart to see more hostages come home, but we must not rest until we bring every hostage home.
Enough is enough!🎗️
The impact on Miami-Dade and Broward County could be devastating. This could impact the Northeast Corridor, the Venetian Causeways, and more.
I’ve attended countless check presentations and ribbon cuttings—seeing these projects in limbo for four years is unthinkable.
ICYMI: Funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is currently halted thanks to the flurry of recent executive actions.
This law was a bipartisan effort to improve roads, bridges, trains, ports, seaports, airports, electric charging vehicles and so much more.
I remember what it was like before Roe v. Wade. I ALMOST DIED from a stillbirth.
WE CAN’T GO BACK!
Today, on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we must keep the fight for reproductive justice alive, even when others want to suppress our freedom.
The magical tie even had the very little ones paying attention at the ceremonies during the 5000 Role Models of Excellence’s 32nd Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Breakfast at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
Every Wednesday is #WearBlueWednesday because we need to #BringBackTheHostages.
We must keep pushing until every hostage is back home because enough is enough.
I invite my colleagues to join me tomorrow.
Welcome home Romi, Doron, and Emily!
It’s a beautiful day to see the release of three Israeli hostages who have been held for far too long by Hamas. My hope is that we continue to see more hostages reunited with their families
It’s time we #BringThemHomeNow. 🎗️
Thank you to everyone who supported the 5000 Role Models of Excellence today at the breakfast, especially Role Model and Democratic Leader @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social.
#WeAre5000👐🏿❤️🖤
Just like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream, I have a dream of the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project being across America. This program transforms the lives of countless boys; prevention, not detention. And today’s 32nd annual breakfast was such a success.
Thank you, President Biden, for showing that true justice embodies empathy and the chance for redemption.
Today’s decision only further solidifies President Biden’s legacy as one of compassion and justice and I look forward to him continuing to grant clemency in his final days.
NEWS🌊: I’m proud to be the new Ranking Member and top Democrat on the Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee in Congress!
Protecting South Florida’s water and environment is key—from Key Biscayne to the Everglades, our ports and beaches. I’m ready to be a champion for it!
