At a time when the Trump administration and Republicans are cutting support for urban agriculture and undermining SNAP, we must keep fighting for policies that invest in food access, local economies, and community health.

It was great to celebrate the urban farmers and local producers who keep our communities fed, connected, and thriving at the 3rd annual KC Farmers Market Passport launch!
This moment reflects years of work and a long-term vision to reinvest in this iconic part of our community, honor its history, and build a vibrant future rooted in opportunity, arts, and local pride.
It was an honor to join Friday’s ribbon cutting for the Boone Theater in the historic 18th & Vine District — a cornerstone of Kansas City’s cultural legacy.
Happy Jewish American Heritage Month!
This May, as we celebrate the rich heritage and many ways Jewish Americans have strengthened our culture and society, let us also honor their contributions by recommitting to the fight against antisemitism and hate in all forms.
Missouri families were already struggling to stay afloat due to the president’s tariff taxes driving up costs.
Now, they’re paying substantially more every time they fill up their gas tank because of the president’s disastrous war in the Middle East.
They deserve better.

Trump’s net worth has nearly tripled in his second term, reaching $6.5 billion.
His administration is the most brazenly self-enriching in American history.

Happy Asian American, Native Hawaiian, & Pacific Islander Heritage Month!
Throughout the month of May, we honor these communities, celebrate their rich culture, and recognize the countless contributions they have made to our country.
After Republicans slashed investments in Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act to give more tax breaks to their wealthy donors, American families have seen health care costs skyrocket.
Now, millions are losing coverage altogether.

Today, we celebrate International Workers Day.
As we recognize the workers who built this nation, let us honor their legacy by continuing to demand fair wages, safer workplaces, and the right to organize.
That’s what I’ll keep fighting for in Congress.
After blocking bipartisan legislation to fund DHS for months, House Republicans finally allowed lawmakers to end the longest shutdown in the history of DHS.
I was proud to support the legislation, ensuring federal workers can continue to receive their hard-earned paychecks.
House passes the Senate-approved DHS funding bill by a voice vote.
It funds everything in DHS except ICE/CBP, including TSA, FEMA, Coast Guard, CISA.
This ends a 75-day shutdown.
Bill now goes to Trump to become law.

American families are struggling under the GOP cost-of-living crisis—but Republicans refuse to do anything to lower costs for the people.
Instead, they want to give an unaccountable ICE more money to antagonize the public.
I think that funding should go toward lowering costs for families.
I believe Congress can do better than today's legislation, and it is my hope the Senate will work together to craft a truly bipartisan & comprehensive Farm Bill that provides meaningful relief to Americans who desperately need it.
When that occurs, I look forward to supporting the final package.
Rather than working to lower housing, health care or grocery costs, Republicans in Congress are prioritizing another tax cut that overwhelmingly benefits the wealthiest Americans.
It’s a slap in the face to working-class families that are struggling to stay afloat.

Today’s appalling decision by the Supreme Court to unilaterally gut the Voting Rights Act is not only wrong—it is deeply disrespectful of the generations of African Americans and civil rights advocates who gave their freedom, their blood, and even their lives to make it possible.
My full statement:
As a direct result of the president’s disastrous war in the Middle East, gas prices are now at a multi-year high—which is crushing families in #MO05 and all across the country.
It’s time that Congress put an end to this conflict before more damage is done.
Republicans control the White House, Senate, and House of Representatives.
Rather than working with Democrats on a bipartisan basis to meet the needs of the American people, they are struggling with basic governance.

As the president’s reckless trade policies close vital trade markets and his disastrous war in the Middle East drives up fuel and fertilizer prices, farm bankruptcies are up 46%.
American farmers deserve better.

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
