Even in challenging times like this, I hope you’re able to find some joy this 4th of July and take a moment to reflect on the values of freedom, equality, and justice that still make our country worth fighting for — because this fight isn’t over. Happy Independence Day to all.

The GOP are taking food and health care from the poor so the richest people alive can get even richer. This may be the most morally repugnant bill Congress has ever produced. It will devastate Memphis, TN-9, and beyond. I voted HELL NO. I’ll keep fighting this cruelty with everything I've got.

Hakeem Jeffries is about to break the record for longest speech on the House floor. He told many a truth about this corrupt Big Ugly Bill, and the failings of Trump, Vance, and their sycophants. God save the United States of America.

I asked my Republican colleagues to live up to the words of Jesus: “I was hungry and you fed me. I was sick and you healed me.” They rejected it. Instead, the GOP is advancing a bill that strips food and health care from the poor and gives the money to the wealthy. It's a moral disgrace.

The GOP's One Big Ugly Bill guts TennCare—Tennessee's Medicaid program—leaving 310,000+ Tennesseans without health care. All so they bankroll tax cuts for millionaires, billionaires, and big corporations. They're taking health care away from poor people so rich people can get even richer.

Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill just got uglier. $1.3 TRILLION in cuts to Medicaid, health care subsidies, and SNAP, billions taken from clean energy and given to oil & gas—all to fund tax cuts for millionaires, billionaires, and the GOP donor base. Call your reps. Tell them to vote NO on this disgrace.

Thom Tillis is retiring from the Senate as the Senate has changed and it’s no longer favorable for people who think independently. Further, he is just a nice guy who can talk sports and music and life not just politics. And he has Tennessee roots. I consider him a friend.
Yesterday was my last day on T&I. Proud to have delivered record funding for Memphis—like $394M for the I-55 bridge—plus air travel protections, resources to protect our environment, and so much more. Grateful to colleagues I worked with along the way. Now, it’s on to the Intelligence Committee.
3 years ago, Trump’s justices overturned Roe—and the GOP’s only gotten more extreme. They’ve made reproductive health a nightmare, want to gut Medicare & Medicaid, and are tearing families apart in broad daylight. I’m in this fight for women, for freedom, and for all Americans. I won’t back down.
Memphis has lost its most important citizen, Fred Smith. Federal express is our economic engine. But also in anything that affected Memphis, Fred Smith was there as Citizen Smith. From the FedEx forum to the Liberty stadium, which is being updated with his help, to our world class zoo.Thank you Fred!
#Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery. It's a day to celebrate, honor the work of Black liberation, and recognize the work that remains ahead. It's about freedom, the most American value there is, and I was proud to cast my vote to make it a federal holiday.
