Now Trump’s DOJ steps in and goes against what the legislature did, and Abbott and Paxton are refusing to defend the law enacted in 2001 and signed by Rick Perry.
This is a choreographed surrender. Legislation to gut the in-state tuition program just got shut down in the Texas legislature.

This CBO score shows how grim the impacts of the Republican budget bill will be: $2.4 trillion will be added to the debt, 16 million Americans will lose access to healthcare, and costs for hardworking families will only continue to skyrocket.
Texans have made it clear where they stand on this. AG Paxton must fully defend the laws of our state. This is a disappointing action from an administration that doesn't care about anyone but billionaires.
Legislation to strip in-state tuition in Texas also just died during the legislative session.
This lawsuit is meritless, cruel, and vindictive. Republicans in Texas created this program in 2001 to establish parity so all tax-paying folks, regardless of status, can receive the benefits they are owed.

This is a new level of evil — a Wisconsin man allegedly sent handwritten threats against Donald Trump in an attempt to get another man deported.
Today, I urged Secretary Hegseth to establish Joint Base San Antonio as the headquarters for the proposed consolidated Western Hemisphere command. Our city is essential to our national security.
For decades, San Antonio has cultivated a unique partnership with the Department of Defense to support the military's success.
Happy Pride month y’all! As a nation, we’ve made big strides to protect LGBTQIA+ folks. Let’s not turn back the clock now. This month is about celebrating you—and uplifting your stories and experiences. I stand with you! 🏳️🌈
What a shocking tragedy. Jonathan Joss was a talented and dynamic actor who touched so many lives. My prayers are with his family and friends during this heartbreaking time. This was a homophobic attack and this has no place in America.

My heart goes out to the victims and their families after the violent, antisemitic attack in Boulder, Colorado yesterday. I am praying for their full recovery.

One more for the "WTF" quota...
This lady has been legally in the U.S. for 50 years. She was detained by ICE in *February* when coming home from a trip to the Philippines and only just released last week.
"It was horrific; it was awful, it is crowded—super crowded."

There’s a reason we are the most prosperous country on earth—and it’s because the federal government has followed the rule of law and due process. But that isn’t happening right now.
This is an ugly and cruel bait and switch for people who are just showing up to court to follow the rules and the correct process. We have to be better than this.
This duplicitous attack on San Antonio immigrant communities is shameful. These folks are following the law—they are families, mothers, and children, not violent criminals.

In San Antonio today, plainclothes ICE officers (not masked this time) arrested, handcuffed, and zip-tied a family of five (yes, ALL of them, including the little children) coming out of their immigration court hearing — which ICE had just had dismissed.

GOP Sen. Joni Ernst responds to voters saying that cutting Medicaid will kill them: “Well, we all are going to die.”
The Trump Tariffs are hurting Texans. Trade is down, our economy is shrinking, and prices are going up at the grocery store, Walmart and many other places.
I’m glad the courts stepped in.
