From Congresswoman Helen Bentley and Congressman Elijah Cummings to then Delegate Brooke Lierman and Senate President Bill Ferguson, Team Maryland refused to take no for an answer and found creative solutions to invest in the Port and economic opportunity for our region.
Since the late 1800s, the Howard Street Tunnel in Baltimore has served as a crucial transportation and trade artery supporting the Port of Baltimore and our entire region.
There are some days on the job that make me especially proud to be on #TeamMaryland because of our ability to work together to get big things done. The official ribbon cutting of the Howard Street Tunnel’s newly improved double-stack rail operation was one of those reminders.

Roundtables allow me to hear directly from our local leaders on the issues that matter most to them. Last week’s education roundtable, hosted at Maryland State Education Association, was no exception. Lots more to come on our work on behalf of #MD03 students, families, and teachers.

Happy Father’s Day! I hope all the Dads out there are enjoying a day filled with appreciation, relaxation, and time surrounded by your families and loved ones.
Thank you County Executive Calvin Ball, Howard County Office of Human Rights & Equity, Harriet Tubman Cultural Center, & Howard County Recreation & Parks for organizing this meaningful event to celebrate & honor Black history & recognize the importance of uplifting the voices of our neighbors.
Incredible storytelling, exhibits, resources, food, and more — the Howard County Juneteenth Block Party and Community Day had it all!
Large-scale restoration is never easy — but with partners like Chesapeake Bay Trust, we can continue acting at the speed and scale science and our communities demand.
This week, I joined the Chesapeake Bay Trust for their Pooled Monitoring Forum, designed to connect researchers and policymakers, to give an update on Whole Watershed Act projects and discuss how we can continue to work to protect our natural treasures in Washington.
It’s not every day I get to celebrate some real environmental wins — and nerd out about whole watershed restoration with people equally as passionate about preserving the Chesapeake Bay!
A special thank you to Bishop Craig Coates and all of the Celebrate Annapolis Juneteenth organizers for the incredible evening and their continued dedication to engagement and service.
Yesterday, I kicked off our Juneteenth celebrations at the Celebrate Annapolis Juneteenth Gala, where we recognized the progress made right in Annapolis and Anne Arundel County to preserve Black culture and history while also acknowledging how far we still have to go.
This year may be only the sixth time we’ve celebrated Juneteenth as a federal holiday – but it's a culmination of over a century and a half of pushing for recognition and years of work preserving our history, even in its darkest moments.
The President’s decision to enter this war with no plan or strategy was selfish, unconstitutional, and a national security failure. Now, it is the American people who will have to continue to bear the cost and damage of the war.
After over 100 days of war, gas prices have skyrocketed, we have damaged global alliances, and we are no closer to keeping a nuclear weapon out of Iran's hands. The reopening of a strait that was open before the war began is not progress.
