yeah I think this is one of those things, like self-driving cars, where the opposition just melts away the second they go from "theoretical thing you can scare people with" to "totally normal thing on the streets"

one other thing on this: I think it is likely to have very good outcomes, in practice, to have a large corporate voice with a strong interest in dropped kerbs, level pavements, parking enforcement and enough width on a pavement for two robots to pass each other
Don’t be disheartened America, it’s actually fine having a system that gives effectively unlimited executive power to the head of government. You just have to make sure you only ever elect good chaps to head your government! You did remember to only ever elect good chaps, right

This is a real issue, and as a pavement user with a disabled child I can confidently say illegally parked cars are not going to be knocked off the top spot for reasons why I have to do dangerous manoeuvres
This is extremely good, delivery robots are such a win. I worry about pavement clutter but they’re far less of an issue on that than lime bikes
You might have already seen them in some places, but a mass of autonomous pavement delivery robots could be coming after ministers signalled they are likely to support a change in the law formally allowing their use, prompting worry from campaigners.
