Today we celebrated the opening of the Crossroads Summer Street Apartments in Providence – 176 new permanent homes for Rhode Islanders.
This is a major step forward in tackling the housing crisis and making Rhode Island a more affordable place to live.
In these challenging and uncertain times, the United Way of RI continues to provide essential support to nonprofits, families and individuals in need. I enjoyed meeting with the UWRI team today and continue to be grateful for their work.

Young families in Rhode Island are already stretching every last dollar they make.
Under the Republican budget, a family for 4 making $64k would see health care costs rise by $216 a month.
Instead of fixing this, Republicans in Congress shut down the government and took a vacation.
Today I met with health care providers at South County Hospital to discuss how Congressional Republicans are putting the health care system at risk by refusing to extend ACA funding in the budget.
We need to reopen the government with a budget that protects care for Rhode Islanders.
