A year into Trump's second term, I'm grateful for the everyday people who've stood strong in the face of cruelty.
In today's @bostonglobe.com, I wrote about why democracy is still ours to defend, and how the only way to beat a dictator is with defiance.
As Trump marks one year of governing with contempt for our immigrant neighbors, we're centering one of the communities most impacted.
I’m holding a hearing with @markey.senate.gov on Trump's termination of TPS for Haiti & how it'll impact families in MA.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a man before he was made a martyr.
A husband, father, son, and man with a bold vision for revolutionary change.
As we reflect on his legacy today, let's not forget his humanity.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. wrote the blueprint for our survival.
Today, we take our cues from him — not from insecure, wannabe kings who traffic in hate.
Together, we'll continue resisting authoritarianism, because “right temporarily defeated is stronger than evil triumphant.”
Abolish ICE.
Impeach Kristi Noem.
End qualified immunity.
In his last speech, Dr. King reminded us that the greatness of America is the right to protest for rights.
His words are as relevant today as they were then.
In the face of authoritarianism, we'll always remain active, engaged, and relentless in our pursuit of justice.
Coretta Scott King wasn't just a grieving widow who picked up a mantle.
She was already an effective strategist and activist who wrote the blueprint for our survival.
And she reminded us that freedom is never really won — you have to earn it and win it in every generation.
We cannot stand idly by while rogue ICE agents ravage our communities, brutalize families, and kill our neighbors.
Our bill sends a powerful message to everyone in America—citizen or not—that when ICE agents break the law, they should and will be held accountable.
Solidarity with the people of Iran as they fight for their humanity, independence, & right to self-determination from a violent, authoritarian regime.
From Massachusetts and Minnesota to the Middle East and beyond, our freedoms and our destinies are tied.
HUGE: After we fought back, Trump is delaying his cruel plans to seize the wages & tax refunds of folks behind on their student loans.
This would've been devastating for borrowers & our economy—& it should never happen.
Congress must pass our bill to end garnishment permanently.
Trump’s cuts to SNAP have been devastating for families in Massachusetts.
I’m in Everett with @repmcgovern.bsky.social for his #EndHungerNow tour to check in and offer support to local retailers like El Valle La Sultana Market and families impacted by these harmful cuts.

DWC members joined together at the @usprogressives.bsky.social
hearing on the importance of lowering the cost of housing.
ALL women and families deserve a safe, affordable place to live.
Reposted byCongresswoman Ayanna Pressley
The White House is giving pardons to fraudsters. Trump is more concerned with protecting billionaire thieves than feeding hungry Americans.
Suspending immigrant visas for 75 countries is a cruel, racist, and xenophobic policy that does nothing to keep America safe.
It is a betrayal to families who have played by the rules & waited years to be reunited with their loved ones.
The Trump Admin must reverse course.
When we fight, we win.
After Trump tried to cancel billions in funding for mental health programs, we fought back. And now, the Administration is backing down.
I'll keep fighting to ensure everyone can access the mental health services & wraparound care they deserve.
TY @repyassansari.bsky.social, @repilhan.bsky.social, & @usprogressives.bsky.social for your partnership on this critical hearing on housing affordability.
We're fighting hard to lower housing costs & affirm housing as the human right that it is.
So folks like Anthony in Somerville don't have to leave Massachusetts due to skyrocketing rent.
Mifepristone is safe, effective, & has been FDA-approved for 25 years.
Today's Republican HELP hearing on 'protecting women' was just a baseless attempt by Republicans to spread misinformation & undermine access to abortion care.
As @reprocaucus.bsky.social Co-Chair, I won't stop fighting back.
Trump's attacks on housing assistance programs are worsening the housing crisis.
And while he threatens wars abroad, Democrats are focused on lowering costs at home.
Today, I'm co-hosting a @usprogressives.bsky.social shadow hearing on housing affordability. Tune in at 2pm:
