Today, I again voted against the same partisan, temporary government funding bill that Republicans passed on a party-line vote in March.
This is not a "clean," status-quo funding bill, but an extension of deep cuts made by Republicans and a power grab by the President.
This attack on free speech is anti-American, a violation of our constitution, and another example of the chilling and shocking rise of authoritarianism in America.
Donald Trump has led the charge to defund PBS, and just weeks ago, he attacked ABC and NBC. He has notably left other networks like Fox News, OANN, and Newsmax completely unscathed – likely because they are owned by his allies and have eagerly done his bidding.
Carr, who wrote the FCC chapter for Project 2025, is using his position to silence speech he disagrees with and degrade the first amendment, which guarantees and protects free speech.
The reason Jimmy Kimmel was indefinitely removed by ABC is because of FCC Chairman Brendan Carr’s threat to the network to "do this the easy way or the hard way."
The unprecedented use of the power of the federal government to silence anyone President Donald Trump disagrees with or dislikes should alarm every American.

🚨 Update from the ongoing Appropriations Committee debate we’re having about funding for labor, health, and education
If we want to have a healthy, growing economy long-term, we need an educated workforce.
If we want our country to remain competitive for generations to come, we need to invest in our public education system.
Republicans are refusing to give educators across the country the financial support they need, especially when it comes to Title I funding that provides money to some of the poorest districts in America.
In El Paso, we could lose up to a thousand teachers without Title I funding.
I don’t understand why we can’t come together and fund education in our country.
Instead, Republicans are dismantling the very system meant to prepare our children for the future.
History will not remember this decision as a defense of liberty. It will be viewed as the grave failure of the highest court in the land that it is.
