I just met with four of my constituents who are being held at the Tacoma ICE facility. They are not “the worst of the worst”. I will be following up with lawyers and maintaining direct contact so that they do not get lost in our broken immigration system.

2/ They operate under a different set of standards, there are investigations with the presumption of neutrality at the outset. There are basic laws and constitutional rights that are expected to be respected. There are training and hiring standards that are significantly higher than with ICE.

1/ As someone who is not a member of law enforcement but has heard from many members of law enforcement, I think it is essential to differentiate between what is happening with ICE and how local police and sherrifs are trained to operate.

"We are heartbroken but also very angry.

Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the hero term lightly. However his last thought and act was to protect a woman.

The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He has his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down all while being pepper sprayed.

Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man.”

This administration is gaslighting the country and ruining public trust by telling people what they see isn't true. I urge the Senate to do the right thing and block DHS funding NOW.

I am horrified that ICE has murdered another person in Minneapolis. Let me be clear: Kristi Noem's DHS must stop violating our constitutional rights. ICE must stand down and allow the proper investigating agencies, including local law enforcement, to do their work without prejudice or predetermination of the outcome.
